I know a great deal of you snobs love the mac just like me, so what do you think?
£949 for a 2.0ghz macbook? My 2.2 was £829. Ok, they've got new graphics cards and a gimmicky glass trackpad. No firewire?
Oh, and the entry-level pro has shot up by £100. And they've knocked a USB port off it.
if they were smart then they'd have killed the supply a few weeks ago and let the remaining units get bought up.
but no, i don't know what will happen to those.
look at the website.
but with new specs.
so unless you're referring to the refurb store?
and they haven't re-up'ed
knowing full well that this update was imminent but I didn't care. what's changed? are they much more amazing?
If I were to get one sometime, how much could I save by being a student and stuff?
but I got a free ipod nano
50 or so instore.
I saved about 130, got a free printer and could've got cheap warranty if I was into that sort of thing.
Once you get the student discount and take into the equation how nice Macs are to use in comparison to Windows laptops, it sort of becomes an acceptable price.
not cool. and to think that people were speculating that they'd be cheaper...
i'm amused that this makes the cheapest macbook pro a bit of a waste of time now...
to clarify, they do look nice and all, but that is a lot of cost for not a lot of practical improvement.
i like firewire :(. well, i don't totally hate it and i use it sometimes.
How about 'fuck Apple in their stupid brushed-metal and white acrylic ears'?
Are you abandoning Apple for Linux or even Windows?
To paraphrase Christopher Hitchens on John McCain: I prefer companies that don't make me constantly ask "Who the fuck do they take me for?" and that same sense of being taken for a mug exists every time I see an Apple product now.
how soon they'll be in the shops?
thought it might just be in America though
they all ship from china anyway...
now is it going to be full of glitches and bugs?
or is there much bigger hard-drive than previous versions? I'm not familiar with the MB specs, only the MBP. But I bought the first release of the MBP and 100 or 120 GB were the options. This model comes at 250/320GB.
It also comes with a display polishing cloth!
Just can't please some people.
I can see the point in getting one of the higher end macbooks if your using it for development of some sort, other than that I never really see the point.
In my last year of college everyone went out and bought mac books, first the white ones before someone got a black one, until someone got a black one with 1 ghz extra and so on it was an aesthetic wank fest with people trying to one up each other with macbooks..
Literally like children each wanting to have the best gameboy so they could show it off in the playground except more extreme. It pinicaled when some complete cunt got his mum to pay £2000 for the top of the range mac book pro. All he ever used it for was facebook. I hate people so much.
you see it everywhere, pretty much all my friends have macs now cos they're "easy to use" yet still keep asking me how to do things, yawn.
i only really use my laptop for das internet/music, so i'm happy with linux
Macs are lovely. They're well-built, will never crash on you if you treat them right (had mine for close to a year now with no hardware crashes), and the whole ability to run Windows/OS X at the same time means you get the best of both worlds, which for me is GAMES/A REALLY, REALLY GOOD OPERATING SYSTEM. I've also only had one virus in a years time.
However, most people should just stick with Windows. I had a girl ask me really stupid questions like "how do you get MSN on Mac?" and "where's MS Paint?", and though these are available for Mac, you shouldn't switch if you're THAT dependant on them. Frankly, it's a waste of money.
Anyone curious enough should actually play with a Mac for a few weeks and decide if they like the way the OS is built, and if THAT is worth their money, because switching and expecting the same MS experience within OS X or doing it for a fashion statement without knowing the system is completely absurd.
