if not, what does?

make the world go round, if you mean literally it has however been commonly believed to be round for quite a few centurys now thou.
Whether that is in the form of money, or whether it is the exchange of goods (Freecycle, The Burning Man convention in Nevada Desert are two examples of 'trade').
It's the human condition. For we are greedy fuckers and greed has been ruling us for a long long time and we have evolved with that…
It's a different kind of fight for survival in today's world…
You remembered our conversation.
Money does not make the world go round. I think that phrase is disgusting. Really. It's the idea of capitalism as metanarrative. It makes me feel actually really angry that anyone could think this way.
What makes the world go around is a question for philosophers and physicists. Not economists.
but it isn't.. because too many people out there are way too selfish and don't care about others.. there isn't enough love or human compassion....
and make them jump up and down at the same time
pieces of paper that only have value cos people believe they do.
or,numbers that have value cos people believe they have value.
i dont ersonaly think so,and i look forward to some level of advancement, thought its not gonna happen
i dont speak welsh
people are trained to the relative merits and weaknesses of their tribe's linguistic rules and behaviours
language is a human invention for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of ideas - just as money is a human invention for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of goods and services
And neither of those things make the world go around.
or are you just going to stamp your feet and avoid any points I might make by saying you're not interested in them?
bear in mind that my firm position is that the phrase "money makes the world go round" is a repugnant, weak minded misconception.
but I would argue that money in itself is benign and that what is hidden in that phrase is actually the word 'greed'
but I think a decent argument could be made for language or rather communication in its various forms is what makes the world go 'round
I've long since held the belief that 'we try to understand the universe by telling each other stories' and it is certainly true that the advancements of Homo Sapiens come as a result of being able to use language to have at last a mechanism of our own making to transmit ideas over generational boundaries (rather than having to rely on dna to do this this previously).
I see money simply as a form of communication and the objectives of Darwinist capitalists to amass as much of it as possible as obviously abhorrent and counter-intuitive.
But I don't readily equate money with capitalism because socialism and communism also have their own forms of market and money. I don't think it is capitalism itself that is necessarily flawed - I think it is the concept of the market - separating producers and consumers into corporate entities - that is flawed.
But that's another issue.
The intentions of people who's pocket it fills are though.
do seek to enforce that all other humans relinquish independance and self reliance to become dependant upon the system that mammon can exist in. It will encourage these human agents to equip whatever tools and methods are best to carry this out.
Interestingly some people who are still not in the system that mammon designed were recently identified and referred to in the DIS favourate, Bruce Parry's program where he skirted round some areas of the amazon where there are tribes that have not yet been contacted or recorded by outsiders.
It would be the best thing if any charitable donations one was thinking of might be to preserve such tribes in their isolation. I suspect this will not protect them though
needs money to truly exist in stronger form, as it allows obfuiscation of what is actually being traded, it enables one persons absolute essentials to be measured against another persons whim and fancy....due to mismeasurements and valuations it oftenresults in whims being valued as highly as essentials, however it hides the fact that this has taken place as money looks kind of anonymous. originally it was meant just to smooth trade and to iron out differences in balance (I need wood and seed and i can pay you with a cow...but where is the change if this is adjudged to be an imbalance? money seems to address this, normally humans would have to argue and remember that someone still 'owes' the other.
However money then goes further.....it starts to get more complex and the train of transactions get bigger, often goods pass hands many times, each transaction means a 'cut' is taken......the more changing ha nds the more that others can take some money without actually doing much to improve value to others, this is where greed and obfuscation and unecessary cost comes in.
Often the people able to get most wealthy are those that do not 'produce the goods with their hard work' or do the services with their labour, it is the people that move the money around.
This was realised a while ago and was cited as the reason for hating jewish people, although this was largely also due to jews being denied many other occupations or owning of much land in europe, of course it is also not a specifically jewish trait, so all the pogroms were based on nonsense.
It is the fact that mammon is not recognised and regulated, that we are in our horrible mess.
Money and mammon was given a carte blanche by the fall and ridicule of socialism and marxism, which is insane, why should greed be allowed to rule cos some of some paranoid georgian leaving a bad legacy?
Mammon is one of the few evils that the organised religeons do make a stab at criticising as an evil, when it is a real one.
It is a Daemon that needs to be recognised.
People that give into it are not evil (as suggested up there /\)
Because all human necessity is often translated into being able to be purchaserd with it.....security, safety, food, shelter, water. deprived of these it is unsurprising that people will try to please their 'lifegiver' their deity.
Even rich people can be paranoic about the future and consider that even more wealth is needed to ensure their security and comfort (and that of their kids) Mammon gtets into people through human needs and weaknesses, because it goes unchecked it gets good at doing this (no one likes greed but rich men tended to be powerful men and it can be against the idea of self survival to always go against powerful men in a system wherre money can buy most things)
We have created a hell on earth in which the daemon Mammon can live, we build towwers and monuments to this daemon, many worship this daemon and it enfeebles those who might resist compliance with it, thus enfeebling those who would become a knight to slay it.
Unfortunately many knight who would wish to tame or slay the daemon are fought by those who are in much or slight thrall to it, and knights agianst mammon realise that they cannot really hurt humans in the process to get the job done, as expediancy is a major tenet of Mammon, true knights cannot start to target those they wish to save as virtually all humans are instruments to mammon in some degree, they are a slave army that will try to protect mammon as mammon has made them ensure that they cant survive without it
no no no.
it will have to do.it's THE BEST FROM WE HAVE AVAILIBLE.i think.
personally,i'm all for trying to get a 'post-scaricity' society, which is something i read about on teh interweb last night
is more appropriate, you see, i don't see things in terms of christian/nonchristian or god/no gods, demon is maybe more in keeping if you have these sort of views, i think, although language is an art rather than a science so its up to you
as i also said i have no desire to hurt all humans who would hurt as a result of the immediate killing of mammon.
However I would suggest that humans try to control mammon. This is the preferred course of action.
The Earth or nature or the universe should be the deity that humans love and desire to be closer to, it is unatural and unpleasent that humans are 'encouraged to love mammon' (rather than just accept mammon as a daemon that we could live with if we control it rather than an enslaving all conquering deity
I've been looking for one of those strips, that you stick near your boiler (the inner circle becomes darker if your getting carbon monoxide coming from your boiler)
The problem is they dont have equivalent strips for sanity.
Do you think its a good move?
AND YOU HAVE NO PHONE IF YOU HAVE NO MONEYS
