Economics

livingthedream [Edit] [Delete] 2 replies 11:01, 7 October '08

In a rather selfish way I can't work out how the potential Icelandic Bankruptcy is going to affect me, holidaying there in one weeks time. I assume we shouldn't exchange any money until the last possible moment, and even then not take much Korona out with us as it could quickly become worthless? Does anyone understand economics and can provide me with a few scenarios?

Secondly, Is this all because of the US and UK governments and the fucking war on terror or is that oversimplifying things much too greatly?

  • I don't think it is because of that.

I think its mostly because of free market idealism, unregulated economies and giving banks free reign (yep, Thatcher) combined with the excessive borrowing.

Can we officially stop calling this the credit crunch now and just accept it is a full blown recession?
