FAO: TEAM FA TROPHY RUN
So, tomorrow we hit Leyton. I'm far too excited. Anyway. Here's a sort-of plan.
Due to the Victoria line being closed, those of a tube-minded bent might want to think about the Central Line to Leyton. The other option (and the one I'll be taking) is the 15-minute overland to Walthamstow Central overground station from Liverpool Street.
What I propose, due to these two options, is a pub that is about halfway between both stations, and a ten-minute or so walk to Leyton's ground. This pub happens to be a Wetherspoons (I know, I know, but seriously, all the other options are about 2.2 on beerintheevening, and look slightly dodgy).
So, if going to Leyton station, exit left and walk up Leyton High Rd to the corner of Lea Bridge Road. If going to Walthamstow, exit right, wander down Hoe St/Station Approach which then turns into the same High Street, and go to the corner of Lea Bridge Road. There should be the pub, called The Drum.
12pm, in there. It still looks rough, but it's the best of a very bad bunch. And the Leyton ground is on Lea Bridge Road, so it's a straight walk after a couple of lunchtime ales. See you there?

Enjoy!

how much will the game be be d'you know? tenner or so?
Dulwich charge £8, so I'd imagine it's around that mark.
You definitely in? Good lad.
no plans elsewise, cannae see why not
haven't seen a game for ages either.
maybe not 12 though. Got some twiddling to twiddle.
PUSSY O!
you need to work on your chants
this is leyton, not milan
That's not a sentence you hear very often.
Indeed
I SHALL BE THERE. With bells on.
Excellente.
I did a blank post wihout knowing!
I shall be there
Though I may be worse for wear as it's my leaving drinks tonight.
I sadly need to get my haircut, otherwise I was going to posit the punchy option of the Salmon and Ball at 10am for the happy hour bitter
I'm looking forward both to your new hair
and the prospect of us wearing the same coat.
at the same time?
That would be one seriously impressively sized garment.
true dat
The coat is so sexy
I sat around in the living room watching telly with it on yesterday
In new coat related news
I got a new jacket for the trophy run, in memory of the new coat I got for the cup run last year.
It may make me look like roger the dodger. Well, if roger the dodger was really fat.
new coats ftw
I shall miss the Arfur Daley abuse.
Bump for Broon.
Is the game at 3pm?
Probably won't be there at 12, but I should make it in time for a couple of preliminaries.
Excellent work.
We'll probably be in there until around 2ish? Beer and a burger should do us well for lunch.
I'll have a falafel and white win spritzer, ta
Are you trying to ruin non-league football?
You disgust me.
My work here is done
midday?!
expect me later. this is never a good idea knowing you lot, but theres not much choice.
Have you got an Iron Man Orienteering event to organise in the morning or something?
obligatory Sabbath joke
don't be silly, the sabbath is on Sunday
I've converted to Judaism
Judas Priest
Will the Drum be showing the QPR game?
is that the only early kick off?
and i think the drum does show football. it looks pretty rancid though.
Look, slag it off all you like
QPR's brand of football has got them to a good spot in the league
excellent work
I'll be there, obvs.
After the 80 different things I have to do tomorrow.
(its more like 2)

THAT'S NOT HALFWAY BETWEEN THE TWO POINTS THOUGH
YOU STUPID, THICK-AS-FUCK, NORTHERN COCKKNOCKER.
is that like pre-match stretching?
it's near leytonstone
and leyton.
you flange faced mc retard.
...
But crucially, between Leytonstone and Leyton is nowhere near where we need to be.
Sweet
I'll be there at some point between 12 and 1 I think.
...
I should have seen this earlier. For those who are planning on going straight to the ground - the 58 bus is the one that will take you pretty much to the location.
From Leyton station, cross the road and get the bus going towards Walthamstow and ride that shit to the junction of Church Rd and Lea Bridge road - if you find yourself going down Markhouse road, you've gone too far. Turn left down Lea Bridge and the ground is around there somewhere (what? You think I go see Leyton Shitcore FC every week? Fuck off).
If you're arriving at Walthamstow, the opposite applies: Get off at the junction of Markhouse and Lea Bridge road.
Furthermore: Of all the pubs in Leyton, the Drum is the one I would least recommend - and it's not that near the ground either. Unless you appreciate the talents of DJ Robby, which I don't.
Anyone who's coming from Leyton St should gimme a ring (not got my number? PM me) and you'll get a proper guide and a proper pub.
...
Erratum: Those arriving from Walthamstow - the 48 will also get you to the ground. It goes along Lea Bridge road, so get off after you pass the Mecca bingo place. If that's still there.
CONTROVESY
in other news: cheers, much appreciated
that was deliberately controversial spelling
which pub you thinking?
...
I shrug. All I know is that The Drum is logistically and aesthetically inappropriate. It also smells of poo. From the outside. All all the barmaids are flids.
Here's the ground though: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?rlz=1C1GGLS_en-GBGB291&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=E10+7LD&um=1&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=image
I would have thought there'd be some sort of drinking place on that stretch of Lea Bridge or Church road. Don't hold me to that though. All I can remember about that area is that it contains a library, a chip shop that had a Street Fighter 2 Turbo arcade machine and the primary school I attended - none of which serve beer.
My research revealed none of those.
If people wanna go somewhere else, then fine. I just thought I'd try and organise something.
I'M VERY SORRY.
That's ok
I just want to watch QPR. What can I say I like Dowie's style of football
...
FINE! We'll go to The Drum! If you get molested by a bar staff's stump though, that's on you!
HOTT
That settles it. We're going to the Drum.
Although the photo on BITE is pretty uninspiring: http://img01.beerintheevening.com/7d/7d19cd5299c424ce53c82bf372f49e8e.jpg
You're not doing it right. It's like when you look around a potential new home.
You have to imagine a blank canvas, with your furniture and bits in there instead.
Imagine that pub, with us all piling on top of Rich outside, beer flying everywhere and Tom From Sparks doing the video ref hand signal. Suddenly, it looks like home.
It's a lovely thought
:D
i can't wait to go home
what does this mean?
are you doing that thing where you follow a team to the final?
Yes.
sounds amazing.
i cant come tomorrow though. i bet the winner draws fucking carlisle away in the next round.
would you go if that happened?
Yes, because the impossibility
of a club from League 1 being involved in an FA Trophy game would mean it's a must-see, pretty much.
o hang on
what the hell is the FA trophy?
ANSWER ME BAMOS
if only there was some kind of resource
which offered information on a number of subjects, and could be accessed from anywhere in the world...
dream on punk
hey, I'm an idealist
WHAT IS THIS ABOUT A GIRL GOING TOMORROW?
There'd better not be. I thought we put a stop to this kind of thing years ago.
hannah

Obvious 'Mike likes boys' joke goes here

*makes whip cracking noise*
He won't hear it.
He's so wrapped in cotton wool that all sounds are a dull muffle to him.
*slowly raises middle finger*
*gets "the look" from hannah"
*puts finger down*
*looks sheepish*
I wouldn't advise looking sheepish around a Welsh.
:D
1,000,000/10
you're letting Hannah go?!
why can't the rest of us come?! Not that I really want to. I'm planning to go clothes shopping then go home and crochet. (I actually am)
not exactly letting
more bullying her into coming
why are you bullying HER?!
I mean
I love my girlfriend and all, but do I want her there tomorrow? Of course not! (Because she would see what a sexist, lous mouthed drunken hooligan I am at football)
'at football'
nice addition
Kiss my tits
What the fuck is wrong with you?!

I specifically said in the facebook message that no girls were allowed.
I've not invited a single girl.
Hannah's not single, doofus
She’s going out with Mike. Haven’t you heard?
Seriously?
Wow. I never knew. I lived with Mike and Hannah for about a year and I didn't know anything was going on.
The two of them are one entity.
Anyway, enough of this tomfoolery.
TO THE PUB!
I'll see you lot tomorrow. I genuinely can't wait x
No use sulking now Mike
You knew the rules. YOU KNEW THE GOD DAMN RULES MIKE.
