does anyone have a good reason why these things are only sold in 120Gb now?
"why the fuck would you ever need more"
A. Because the iPod's video capability has long ensured that even though few people have 160gigs of pure music, a lot of people probably have that amount of video.
I myself have somehow accrued over 500gigs of movies and TV. Doesn't even include porn either.
but why would you need to have all of it on your person all the time?
not enough people bought the chunky 160gb model for it to be good business sense to go higher, so they went for something between 80 and 160, and kept it thin.
I was one of the people who got the 160gb.
as 30gb just isnt enough...
Because Apple have arbitrarily decided to be dickheads now that the MP3 player market is comfortably cornered.
I've needed a new iPod for about 6 weeks now - I held off because everyone was saying the Classic ones were going to come dramatically down in price. And now it's actually another 20 quid more than if I just bought one last month.
I don't give a fuck about having 120gb - half that is enough.
the day after this decision was made public (ie while I could still get my hands on one before they were discontinued by suppliers). It is no bigger than my old 80gb one and I love it.
and partly to do with the hard drives themselves - the previous classics (80/160) used single and dual-platter 80gig drives respectively. The new one uses a single 120gig drive so is slimmer. I guess apple thought people weren't ready for 240gig yet...
why can't you get them in white? Surely that's the classic Apple colour?
I got a silver one btw.
but i do remember something about not being able to connect it to a different computer to the one that the music originated from. is that right?
i want a couple mp3s from this pc on my ipod and probs a couple going the other way. someone tell me how?
My brother takes stuff from my itunes all the time. You just need to set up your ipod so it doesn’t auto-sync or something, otherwsie you’ll end up wiping what you’ve got saved and replacing it with the itunes library you’re plugged into.
My iPod has more space than my entire laptop so I've always had to do it like that. Much easier.
of raising the volume on them further? Its really frustrating listening to some stuff quietly, I want the option to go deaf if I want to
