when phrases GO BAD!

Smee [Edit] [Delete] 12:11, 1 October '08

you know when people just get little sayings totally wrong? sometimes I feel pedantic - like when people say "there's no rest-bite", when those of us in the know realise the word they are looking for is "respite". I know, I was pretty shocked when I found this one out.

Other's are just hilarious. I just read a feedback form at work - "I was presently surprised at the presentation". amazing.

but this is by far and away my favourite - my friend Tom used to think that "touché" was the same as cheers! When someone said touché to him, he would raise his glass, not quite wondering why this was appropriate right now, and clink them unwittingly "touché".

he has never lived this down.
