'Why The World Needs Oasis'

beautiful_balloon [Edit] [Delete] 00:18, 1 October '08

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2008/sep/30/why.the.music.world.needs.oasis

i'd like to know what DiSers think to this article.

I think its farly offensive, and i'm surprised The Guardian allow this obsequious 48 year old write about contemporary music

'It's only Glasvegas and Oasis for competition in this country. If you are in a band and are not artistically competing with the creative rock'n'roll genius of Oasis or Glasvegas, it's time to just stop and get off the treadmill. This is how rock'n'roll should be done in the United Kingdom today.'

the whole article so transparently subjectivite - 'i'm scared of new music, and oasis make me feel safe.' The praise is little more than thinly veiled nostalgia for his own forgotten youth, and the text is riddled with cliches ' Coldplay is bedwetters music.'

I don't write for New Scientist because I once successfully changed a lightbulb
