how did that go? (uni doesnt count)
I moved abroad [Because of uni] Does that count?
have killed a million replies. That's quite a powerful thing.
upping sticks and starting fresh somewhere new is a whole different subject
so, double shit. i started posting on dis
was it for a job?
worked out brilliantly
If uni counted, I've just moved to Cardiff, and I'd never been before moving here. I hadn't even been to Wales since I was 6.
Banff (Canada), Vancouver (Canada)
Only people i know there are DiSers (how lame is that!?)
and still dont really 'know' any dissers, I am a social failure even on the internet
they dont ACTUALLY like me (unsurprisingly)
who did you pal up with?
are you pretty much stuck with people from work or the local soak?
I am cripplingly shy at the best of times, never really connect with work colleagues or even classmates, I think I am about to enter a really rubbish era of my life
where are you going and what you moving there for?
just finished my masters and if I want a job in the field i'm going to have to relocate because there is nothing in this town, even if I find something commutable most people I know have left this year anyway so it seems the right time to go
is there no places at all where you could work and know people already?
have moved to brighton, i'm keeping an eye out for jobs there but so far havent seen many
I don't socialise with any of my work colleagues, just headed out to bars and americans are generally a lot friendlier then english so was easy. So avoided just going around with fellow brits and only really know americans. So don't worry just have a few beers and see what happens that would be my advice
sometime in the nearish future.
don't know where Harrogate is?
That makes me sad.
Harrogate is west of York and North of Leeds by similar distances.
Thirsk is about 20 miles north of York. And a little bit west.
before I went to Uni, in order to save up. I lived with my old man though, so I'm not sure if that counts.
I made a couple of friends through work, but I'm pretty shy as well, so really stuggled to get to know anyone properly.
Also I knew I was only going to be there for a year, so it wasn't that bad.
it's going okay. still don't know that many people though.
in a week for a job - don't know anyone there. Not really worried about it, it's far more exciting than daunting.
Moved to Barnsley when my degree finished, totally back fired and know zero peeps (well 1)here due to temping for the council with old, bitter people! another move is on the cards v.soon! i think its more to do with the place then me why ive not met anyone like minded as such!
lived away from home for a few years so when i finished uni i thought i would come back and reaquaint myslef with them all, not really happened tho! i see you are from sheff, do u know barnsley at all? anywhere decent to go on a night etc? need all the help i can get!
I moved to exotic Maidstone because I got a job there. I moved in with people I didn't know. I'd say I count two of those people amoungst my best friends now. I'd say I was very lucky though.
Each time a chose a houseshare with really sociable people and made friends that way. Join a sports club and you'll make friends easy.
