''No music written after 1984 in the upstairs room''
He played DJ Shadow last night :-S
Maybe there's a loophole whereby you can play DJ Shadow tracks if all the samples used were recorded before 1984.
Feeling ill stopped me. Does it live up to the ghost of Tattys?
How could they possibly know that!
On a scale of 1-9 (where 1 is ‘Awesome’, 2 is ‘great’ etc and 9 is ‘terrible’), what kind of a time did you have?
On a scale of 1-9 (where 1 is ‘too many’, 5 is ‘just about perfect’ and 9 is ‘too few’), how many songs from before 1984 did the DJ play?
at that place that used to be Clockwork on Pentonville Road but now has a silly name.
(White Light / White Heat - geddit?)
which is apparently a cocktail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sazerac
Matty was talking about this the other night. Then I got drunk and forgot everything.
Has it started already then? I can't find any details anywhere.
also: is it music *written* before 1984? so covers are ok?
when he was stood talking to you outside 229, you momo.
(also, thnx for reminding me, my memory is mush)
with Let's Wrestle. I think the band policy is "no members born before 1984".
but I don't think I like much from before 1984. Maybe I'll discover things though.
It would be nice if they occasionally brought back the spirit of the old White Light though, and played a little section of Unicorns and Pavement and Les Incompetents. Yeah!
and now i pretty much play the same type of records here
except now as well as Pavement, Unicorns and all that we dance to Why?, No Age and Los Campesinos. In fact its this Saturday!
and all the following are before 1984
The Beatles, Silver Apples, Neu!, Can, Kraftwerk, The Only Ones, The Modern Lovers, Richard Hell, Suicide, ESG, Wire, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, Gang of Four, Dead Kennedys, The Birthday Party, Sonic Youth, Minor Threat, The Fall, Violent Femmes, Bauhaus, The Cure, Every No Wave band and probably a lot more
