being unemployed/getting benefits and stuff

alcxxk [Edit] [Delete] 18:34, 17 September '08

k so i'm (involuntarily) out of my current job in about 2 weeks, and whilst i'm obviously going to try to have another job to start as soon as possible after then, and my current boss type people will give me time to get to interviews and such, what are my benefit options?

i know i can get JSA/"the dole" to cover my food/transport/bills @ c.£45/week (i can survive on that no problem, for what it's actually designed to cover) but will they pay my rent (just over £100/wk) until i have a new job, or do i need to have some kind of disability for that to work?

this may seem like a totally retarded question, but i do know people who've had their rent paid by the council whilst seeking employment, and i'm really not sure what the deal is, yo
