are terrible. why are still put up with these awful displays is beyond me.
that is just one of them things people say because it looks more important in real terms than it is
but he made a fucking dumb error for spurs' 2nd
bad as robinson. awful mistake for the second.
probably the slowest football player in the world?
You mancs have done an amazing job of conning people into thinking he is good.
giovanni just came on for dawson.
(or some other city fan on here) was consistently proclaiming him to be the best right back in the league last season.
whatever you do, don't google tee hee on images.
you are right
but, after an indifferent league record last season and a poor start this, Ramos still seems to have their full confidence.
ditching another manager isnt gonna get them anywhere
I think they were rash getting rid of Jol in the first place (although I do appreciate the evident defensive deficiencies).
but it still doesnt mean hes the right man for the job.
can he even speak english yet?
suggest that he hasn't picked up english because he is unhappy living in london and wants out. Who knows if there's any truth in it.
if we sacked him, then we couldnt do any worse.
i'd rather be a newcastle fan. at least they have a half decent excuse for being shit.
And if we can come up with one, we'll pretend we're good. If we shout loud enough, someone'll listen.
remember when alex ferguson said 'thats damon comoli and you know what hes like' when they asked him about berbatov
and, to be fair, Spurs have been pretty radically overhauled over the last year and it's not that surprising the team aren't quite a unit yet.
But I'm not convinced the changes have been for the better. I mean under Jol they were close to breaking the top four and, even ignoring the Berbatov/Keane sales that the club couldn't do all that much about, there seems to have been a lot of change for change's sake and I don't think the changes have improved the side.
nothing is easy for spurs at the mo. they make every game difficult.
im not suprised the next few games are crucial, 1 point from 4 is shite, and if that contuinues, a run of 7 bad results is enough to put the pressure on most of the managers in the PL
but spurs are bottom!!
He's the Trevor Benjamin of top flight football.
Also Ashley Young = Marlo Stansfield
Spuds were a bit shit.
I'm not honest.
commoli is clearly a twat, none of the new players have added anything, or even replaced what weve sold. we would honestly have been better off keeping malbranque, at least he was consistent. Giovanni is promising.
I realise they need gelling time, and time to adapt in the case of the foreign players. But fucks sake spurs sort it out.
we will have a decent run eventually, finish mid-tableish.
but its a joke. we clearly had no idea who to sign to replace berbtatov and keane, who basically made up for our defensive problems last year by just scoring and creating a lot. this year we are a bit more (a tiny tiny bit) more solid at the back, but have no one to make up for the goals weve lost.
I was impressed with them (on paper, at least), which would suggest he wasn't involved in them.
Modric will come good, he's brilliant. Corluka is class, if lacking pace. Pavlyuchenko should be ideally suited to the prem once he settles. Bentley wasn't worth what you paid but he's considerably better than your other options out there. Gomes had a great record at PSV and although he can be a bit hit and miss, he's a substantial improvement on Robinson. Dos Santos could go either way but for 4 million was a decent gamble.
I'm actually really annoyed that you're doing so badly, because I really like your team, I really like Ramos as a manager and it'd be nice to see another team challenging the top four.
It's all the more frustrating because you knocked the ball around really nicely tonight but didn't seem to really penetrate.
That is all...
He takes risks, but his record at PSV was pretty outstanding. 9 games out of 10 he'll totally command his area. But then he'll do something like that. Still a whole lot better than Robinson.
though, and to be fair, the standard of the Dutch league isn't anything to write home about. It bugs me when Premiership clubs don't look to the lower leagues for keepers and go abroad instead for what often are inferior players at ridiculous prices (not to mention wages). Not that I want anyone to take Paul Smith anytime soon!
but Gomes has also performed well in the CL (that one quarter final game aside).
Paul Smith is an excellent keeper, I'm surprised a Premier League club haven't come in for him. I'd probably rate him above Carson; he's always really, really impressed me. Aside from that though, I don't think there are all that many top-level keepers knocking around the lower leagues and in many ways, the step-up for a keeper is greater than for any other player. I seem to remember Craig Gordon commenting last season on how much harder EPL players strike the ball.
Hennessey's decent, but he could well be in the Premiership next season anyway. Other than that, you've got so many teams who are using keepers who've been proven as fairly mediocre in the top flight e.g. Taylor, Davis, Cerny, Sullivan, Weaver etc.
but what about Dawson?
and I agree, that goal was as much his fault as Gomes'.
you would expect a however much he cost goalkeeper to save those all day
but neither would I expect a top-level centre half to allow an opposition winger to run 40 yards unchallenged with the ball and then fail to close down the shot.
Young should have been closed down on the halfway line, although you could argue that's as much a symptom of your lacking a defensive midfielder. Personally, I'd have kept Malbranque, and spunked the Bentley cash on Veloso.
im no denying Dawsons crapness either, and yeah i think we were far more in need of someone like veloso than bentley, but who knows.
didnt say we would sign him did i? i said someone like him is who we need.
and you are really one to talk
you won't have to suffer him anyway, I imagine. Corluka and Woodgate in the centre is a pretty sexual partnership.
King just isnt fit enough, when he comes in he just improves the back 4 so much
Something's very obviously wrong.
when hes in the side he organises Dawson and the rest of the back for so that Dawson looks half decent. As much as i think Woodgate is quality, he doesnt do that as well as King.
so this makes me happy
Either Spurs or Newcastle always seem to be in crisis, and at the moment both.
I say we merge and form a breakaway club somewhere in the Midlands...
If any team is going to break the top four, its going to be them. I really hope it is too. Its not going to be Spurs, unless suddenly they gel and it all comes together. Give it another season, maybe. Spurs need more of a spine of a team.
I have some Spurs fans in my family, so have a soft spot for them. But this is exactly what I expected from them at this stage in the season. Too many new signings and too many of them unproven players (I've always thought Gomes is a donkey).
I'm sure it will all come together sooner or later, but by that stage, it will be too late for them to challenge for 4th (maybe even 5th or 6th) place
But it's OK, next summer you'll spend a shit load of money again, and then it'll be 'your year'
Plus, I quite like Villa. And Ashley Young. I want Arsenal to sign Ashley Young. This will never happen though
