I WANT MY BLACK HOLES!
and not to forget that we're going round to Grandma's tonight.
Today is testing and calibration. I thought all this was made clear in previous threads?
Just because you get science! Some of us only have fear to cling to!
Aw, I was all ready to die at 27 like a famous rock star.
and thought it was results they weren't getting until then, or does it take 2 two years to speed up dem particle, and don't get smart with me JohnM
but this week they're just making sure they can get a proton beam around the whole ring; it's 27km long and has a whole lot of magnets that need to guide the beam. If just one of them is calbrated wrong the protons won't get round. Once they're sure they can do this they can crank the energy to big bang levels and smash those protons together.
this level of science basically boils down to banging two things together as hard as possible to see what happens
all they're doing today is getting the particles going. once they're moving fast enough then they'll change the directions and make them go boom .
i don't want to be waiting too much longer, it's getting tedious getting up
into a black hole what would happen.
Aside from we would all die. Why and how?
would we definitly die?
We would die if a black hole was created.
How would we die though? Suffocation? Combustion? How long will it take? So many questions!
It'd probably be a laugh.
fellow St Albans resident.
Hey, that means we'll be stretched at the same rate. See you there.
p.s. St Albans - good idea/bad idea?
I came back after Uni I can job hunt in London and move there.
I am applying for jobs in St Albans and thus will stay
Come with me my stretch brother.
And yet nowhere near. We're just in the supersynchronous orbit of London. Nuts.
thats a brilliant way to put it. Fairly nuts, I quite like it though, last night I had a pint in the goat, thats always nice.
Southbound Northern Line to Civilisation. Sorted.
fast train to St Pancras. Hurrah.
where is it? (assuming you meant a pub)
Its nice for a quiet beer with friends aww.
Well it seems nicer than the town centre pubs we usually end up going to. Might be worth walking down the hill if we're trying to avoid the Friday night crowds.
I normally end up going to O'Neils then the Boot. I used to work in the boot so thats ok
but in this one that is not the case!
BENDER! DON'T SHAKE THE BOX!
that we cannot see with our eyes, but that this experiment is likely to allow us to recognise. it would happen so quickly that particle reactions would not take place, and our bodies as we know them would be left in the same shape, just tiny and elsewhere in existance.
The Big Bang happened as a result of some scientists building something similar to the LHC around 4 billion years ago. Once the world is destroyed this time, the same thing will happen in another 4 billion years.
really like that. Thats gold.
they've built a massive reset button?
but i'd imagine it might feel similar at first, maybe even like being literally born into a new place out of a new womb (the black hole) and you'd end up somewhere else. how our bodies and memories would react to this i'm not sure, but i think we'd probably pick up a new purpose in life quite quickly.
was just a funny anyway, I wasn't being serious.
Is it wierd that I now want to experience what you're talking about, it would be so scary but fascinating at least. The problem is that I might want to come back at some point.
"What an utter waste of money. In today's climate when the whole world is struggling and fuel bills are rising by the minute. These idiots want to do an experiment costing billions!!!! It really is begger belief!"
Hell in a handcart!
money isn't the problem, it's china foreignists and lasy black people in africa.
that stopping the immigrants isnt rascist IT JUST MAKES SENSE!!!!
Unfortunatly this countries going to the DOGS!!
