claire says (20:58):
this is fucking amazing curry chris
and it's not too spicy <3
you are my hero
does that change things?
and you look into her eyes, and you see the fiery embers of truth
using the phrase "fiery embers of truth", too
chris makes a mean vegan curry.
surely this is illegal.
all the best vegetables in the world in a curry sauce. it's better than meat, it has different flavours and tastes thrown in. and it's healthier.
Having meat in meals makes people lazy, and there's this idea that meat is intrinsically tastier than vegetables so there's no point sticking anything in with it.
Which is bullshit.
Hurrah for not killing things.
Meat and vegetables together = the best
although there are much healthier proteins available than those given by meat, the other health benefits of vagitarian lifestyles outway those of veganism. synthesised by products are not enough.
cannae afford atm :(
One time, i had a dinner party and cooked my friends spaghetti bolognese and it was fucking amazing. I can also cook my dad's secret lasagna recipe and some other stuff. All of it really well. Win!
not had any incidents of food-poisoning yet, but there's still time.
I can do a mean putanesca. The secret is sun dried tomato puree and ketchup.
tip: make a garnish with crushed garlic, lemon juice, olive oild and salt & pepper and mix it in with the vegetables before roasting for ultimate sex appeal.
loads of pepper, naturally.
but I'm easily distracted so if I'm doing it properly I need to set timers so I don't overcook everything
but i'm generally horrendously uninspired and rely far too much on bought sauces and such to actually give my meals any taste, hmph
chicken in yellow bean sauce
and i can make an omlette.
everything else is just *whoosh or *KABLAMMO
i made a fish pie yesterday, it was pretty good
a good roast dinner, macaroni cheese, any pasta dish. Honestly, i'm pretty good.
I've been making homemade turkey burgers lately. Now they are DELISH.
Im great at cooking, its just like a practical in science.
This said, I have burnt through my calculator in a failed chemical practical and set someones blazer on fire (Though more his fault than my own)
I set fire to my clothes trying to light the oven a few months ago
My sister singed her eyebrows trying to turn the oven on. She ran upstairs crying. When I heard the news, I laughed for a good few days. I coulndt even look at her without laughing (even though there was no obvious aesthetical damage).
Im chuckling now remembering back :D
In my case it was because the landlord doesn't know how to fix the spark thing so to light the oven you have to stick your arm in with a match, so it's mostly his fault, although maybe I should have taken my gloves off before trying to light the oven, but that's still his fault because it was cold because the heating doesn't work.
I have no idea how she did it. I darent ask, because she gets a murderous glint in her eyes/ starts covering her eyebrows on the verge of tears.
You sound like a hero - diving into your oven to light it. WITH GLOVES. Your like rambo, but nothing like him :D
"diving into the oven, with a blatent disregrard for her own safety"
wouldn't be wearing gloves indoors in April.
Simple titration. We needed to make some dilute sulphuric acid, which requires mixing the pure acid with water. This is dangerous in itself, cos its spits out boiling water. But some GENIUS I was working with didnt do it. So we mixed pure sulphuric acid, some spilled and soaked my calculator. The next day, it had corroded through the screen.
I have another calculator with dilute HCL spillage remnants. Its all crust, but it still works :D
Ill show you all sometime.
obviously I use meat as well as vegetables and spices though, otherwise you don't get the juices and fat content that give you that lovely taste. mmmm
A few Dissers may be able to verify this.
Usually I tend to cook chinese/asian type stuff, I think my speciality is chinese ginger chicken.
i feel like a fraud. i used this:
on that programme where they have a go at restaurants
I don't really cook much, since I still live with my mum, but as of two and a bit weeks, I'll be on my lonesome and I intend on at least attempting to cook proper meals rather than eating junk ALL the time.
I don't like cooking for other people though...its too much pressure.
a couple of really good meals, but in general not brilliant and it's only in the last year i've been able to cook anything that wasn't beige.
But I made an amazing bobotie the other day.
Italian food is probably my forte, however I can cook pretty much anything. I love cooking as it's one of my creative outlets. I rarely use recipes these days and make things using the flavours that I know will work. That said, I'm getting lessons from a colleague on how to cook indian food from scratch as I don't have that much experience with indian spices.
I want to be on that show.
if you have absolutely 0 social skills, just as long as you can roast some spuds or something.
It's been fun
I am unsure as to how good I'd be at vegan cuisine but I imagine that I would be above average. I know how to treat lentils.
I didn't realise that lentils were something you grow, rather than some artificial construct, until about a month ago. Oops.
and i think im pretty good, i always love my food anyway!
recipe books are great but i also love experimenting and modifying.
I CANT WAIT TO MOVE SO I CANT START COOKING MORE!!!
