'Tiesto, the new Marmite?
12 August 2008
Tiesto divides opinion like the famous yeast extract.
Marmite is a strange substance. Loved by some, despised by others. Well, it seems that Tiesto has the ability to divide opinion just as much.
A look at the drownedinsound.com music forums will present you with an interesting debate as to how the 39-year-old Tiesto's sound has been swallowed by random members of the public.
Entitled Who the f*ck is Tiesto? the debate was started by a contributor by the name of stanstubbs who asks "how is he big enough to play at the O2? I've never heard of him.
Now dance heads everywhere, whether you like your trance/techno will at least admire the man's skills but stubbsy obviously doesn't.
Well one respondent said he was "the second greatest DJ of the late 90s/00s behind Paul van Dyke". Contentious.
Another dance head wasn't happy with that and said Ferry Corsten was the superior spinner before jimitheexploder piped up, recognising he sells out stadiums all over the world but "plays a load of shit though".
While that is a bit out of order the next writer decided to have a pop at another dance star.
"He's pure DJ ego … DJ/producer of f*cking boring music. He makes Paul Oakenfold seem interesting," phenotypic wrote.
What exactly can you say to that?'
Why am I gettin a mention on Minestry of Sound articals for commenting on a Tiesto thread on DiS? Is this news?!? heheh...
