i do one called Jelly Roll - got Styrofoam, Someone Still Loves Your Boris Yeltsin, Bill Drummond and Frightened Rabbit for the next issue. Got some lit stuff in it too.
I'm such a luddite that I don't even have a MySpace for it though - PM me and i'll send you one for free once it's printed. or you can have the one from last month - sup to you.
if you like art have a look cos i reckon it's ace
with graphics and music and everything...
never a proper paper one (except for uni.
Did a few web ones, and setting one up now actually
I have a 'zine called 'Romance Is Boring'. I'm supposed to be making issue 2 at the moment really, but have got sidetracked by another couple of 'zines I'm making.
My first issue had contribution from folk like Owen Pallett, Zac Pennington, Gruff Rhys, Times New Viking, Kieron gGillen, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Greg Saunier and Gary Jarman. I gave it away for free but people were meant to give donations to an Arthritis charity. Most people didn't though, because most people are awful people.
I'm working on two more at the moment. One which is a little complex to go into and another one that doesn't have a title. But the concept is 18 people writing about a song that they cannot listen to without thinking about someone else, and telling the story behind it. Then I'm gonna burn the 18 tracks to a CD-R and give one away free with every copy. It's intended to be massively emo and heartbreaking. They're both gonna be finished for October.
remind me to write something pls. i have a great story involving huggy bear and greenwich and HEARTBREAK.
Sent to you and all other contributors. I should probably get a move on with it actually, if it's to be ready for October. I think a couple of folk off here are going to write for it.
Espionage, which ran for about 4 issues and sold out each run (about 100 per issue at 50p each), then Kunstlicher, which was mainly for my art a-level, only a few copies got printed and the rest was on Myspace.
but only for one that a couple of my friends run + sell about 50 copies of, to their friends
when i was 18. it was called "irrespective". we did 2 issues. we had interviews with ben kweller, pgmg, q and not u, winnebago deal, uhhh jr ewing, and other people i forget. that dude from hot snakes. it was fun. but reading it now is embarrassing cos we kept going on about "REAL HARDCORE" and stuff LOL.
i made a zine last may called "i concur!" too. i got loads of different contributors (artists, writers, musicians, poets) to do something in one day, on the same day. it was ok.
i've also made loads of comics but i only copy a few and give them to my friends. cos they're rubbish.
i might do another "i concur!". or i might finish one of my many other unfinished ones.
this is an inapproriate place to ace, but do you have an ep or anything?
yes but it's well old now, you can order it on our myspace tho. we are recording new stuff soon.
i'm gona order nao
i think maybe they sold out? :S
as you can tell i'm incredibly involved in the organisation of this band.
i have a million other bands to organise so i let aaron sort this one out!
TOTAL sell out. sorry, i sort of missed yr point through being incredibly self-obsessed.
everything he did in one day and rated everything out of ten?
that was my favourite one
actually make it into that? or do i not want to know?
didnt you read it!? it said something like, "try to have sex with person G, fail, so instead kiss person H". he gave the kiss 10/10.
Then a webzine.
it BECAME A PERSON!!!!!
I was deep into putting together a kind of spinoff from my blog (the JoFo and Wave Pictures interviews posted there were initially intended for it) but then various things happened and it never came about. I did do a kind of zine for Summer Sundae's warm-up parties, although that has had official backing so strictly doesn't count.
