These are some of the best i can see, but i've never heard of them?

Yes, one lump sum and then you can put the same amount in every year (although the amount should increase with inflation). Get a cash ISA not the other type, I know someone who lost a lot on one of those, they get ivested in stocks and shares.
I think they are all much the same, mine is with Barclays.
If you're looking for a genuine means of beating inflation, and aren't too worried about short term fluctuations (ie you're happy to invest for 5 years or more), then they are a better option than a cash investment. I appreciate that there are people who've lost out, probably because they've been recommended shite funds by shady advisors, but if you can get yourself a good advisor and good products then it's a great means making yourself a good return.
but i'll plug the post office as well cos i work there. The instant saver has the highest interest rate (5.75%) of any high street instant access account. The growth bond is apparently pretty good but i've no idea what thats all about.
the post office one launches on the 1st of september so that might be worth a look
