"If you are experiencing a slow transfer rate, click here"

    Does it help? Like cholera.

    • Re: msn file transfer

i'v gone through everything that i think it might be at my end (and it always is my end, i can usually recieve fine) and i've decided that it might be something to do with the admin computer in the house belonging to someone who doesnt live here anymore and took his computer with him . . . so we've got a wireless network with nothing looking after it

might that be the problem ?
      boffins help please !

What do you mean- nothing looking after it?

Where are you receiving it from?

        • Re: msn file transfer

im sending something from this comp but the network in my house here no longer has a computer with the admin stuff on it cos the guy moved out ... and apparently this is not a good thing to have going on if you need to send stuff (or so says the msn troubleshooter thing)

          • Re: msn file transfer

OK. You're on a wireless network- yes?

Where are you receiving the signal from?

            • Re: msn file transfer

              wireless yes

and the signal (if i understand you rightly) is coming from the living room which is more or less directly below where im sitting

              • Re: msn file transfer

im getting kinda irritated cos iv sent similar sized stuff to the guy in the past and its been fine ...

              • Re: msn file transfer

You need to delete your wireless network and set it up again from downstairs. If you have the old network running where a PC has been removed it can fuck things up.

I wouldn't do it if you don't know what you're doing though, we don't want to lose our favourite northerner from DiS.

                • Re: msn file transfer

well i wouldnt really know what im doing .. so il let it be slow for now until we know whose moving in, what sort of set ups we have and can generally set it all up properly again (cos we're gonna lose another PC in a couple of weeks too)

          • Re: msn file transfer

I want to know how to stop it killing MP3s when someone sends them? They transfer and then when I click to play them it just puts them in Quarantine. Never used to happen in the older version.

            Feckin' twattery.

That's not MSN that sounds like whatever firewall you have. There'll be a clickbox somewhere which is wrong. I hate computers so much.

              • Re: msn file transfer

Hmm. Good point. It's the windows firewall so that's probably why it looked like MSN was doing it - Windows crap all over the place.

When i was at uni mine was always sooo slow, and that was on a network with incredibly superfast internet. Then one day it got fast again, no idea what i did

its easier to just yousend a file now though, upload times a lot quicker and such, especially if you are on broadband
