it's full of shit.
Cris Delanno - Just the Two of Us = best song ever
everyone's so bitey.
EDIT: Gaynor Ellen - The Girl From Ipanema = best song ever
'This band are good why don't you like them?'
'This band are shit why do you all like them?'
'The best album ever'
I do like to put input into the music board, I just find it too repetitive.
It's full of cunts.
its only the internet
I just real really really hate the music board. It makes my brain hurt.
but it's got a higher proportion of people who don't know how to reply in the right place (and a few cunts).
and then they 'score indie points' by deliberately disliking excellent bands
Led Zeppelin are shit.
why did you just say that? <//////////////3
They're are very mediocre.
IF IT WASNT FOR THEM NONE OF YOUR BANDS WOULD EXIST. They are the height of excellence and the inspiration for every band on earth. None of this indie piss would exist without (unfortunately)
it really isn't. Ask them
it didn't influence jazz bands (although they probably did)
would tell you that Zep are the most important band in history
and they probably wouldn't.
still, i lol'd.
and they definitely would
Forgettable band #4
you can't be serious.
but surely you see that they sound nothing like led zep
Pretty much the same thing.
especially that zapsta twat.
I CAN'T HELP IT.
I got an email from their label yesterday, asking if I want to put on some more of their bands :')
and they have catchy songs but...meh. who else is even on the label?
And Pete and the Pirates.
PRO WRESTLING... IS THE. WAY. FORWARD.
nope, can't see it. help pls?
rue_the_day's Lou Reed thread today was as hilariously incoherent as it was downright scary
They ramble on at length about albums and bands and songs without any form to their writing, so you're left with a mess of bad spelling and grammar that makes zero sense.
nobody ever rambles on, it's just an endless repetitive grind of "nah i prefer that album/they are sooo good live/my favourite song is that one" with absolutely no insight whatsoever
and that's in the actual "discussion" threads. Most of the time it's just "favourite songs about tea towels"
that you get the odd fellow who thinks he knows shit and takes himself seriously and you end up with a post that goes like
"This album is very good. I like it because it's good. It's very good because it is very good. Rah rah rah, i just bored my own face off. But i'll continue writing about how good this album is, because i think it is very good, because it is very good. Be damned if you do not find it very good..." etc., etc.
NB: may not be an actual post, but i can't be fucked going hunting for one
everyone seems so uptight when talking about music, as if they're scared of getting laughed off into pseud's corner or something. People should just say what they think about music in a loose and uninhibited fashion, that is if they think anything about it at all (i often wonder).
Of course, i am blessed with superhuman levels of sensitivity and intelligence, so i'm not expecting everyone to be as good as me, but y'know.. give it a go
I got the impression that some people simply couldn't comprehend that you didn't pick a Beatles album or whatever.
They seemed to think you were doing it to be contrary, or to rile people.
Maybe I mis-interpreted it. I may re-read it.
I mis-remembered. I thought there were more people giving you shit about it. As you were...
comes with the territory. It was fairly bizarre though, in that some people seemed to be interested in it
also: i was totally doing it to rile people. That's my raison d'etre
very much so for the most part.
unless you enjoy rock n roll or are over 30 they don't want to know or lsiten to an alternative opinion.
and then put flashing lights in its eyes and motors in the head to make it "come to life" like something out of Evil Dead.
rue he is wicked and has passion for talkin about the music he loves.
and he sent me a couple of Deerhunter CDs for nothing. ;)
saying stuff like "Cris Delanno - Just the Two of Us = best song ever
End." is the reason it sucks
that allows them to read this thread.
in the comforting voice of Morgan Freeman.
isn't that something?
if he died
well parts of it there is alot of shit though.
I like seeing people excited about stuff so hype doesnt bother me its good to see some passion.
People hating on stuff is fine as its just their opinion andexpected as everyone is diffrent. Plus I dont mind taking the piss out of music I like.
I like talkin shit about music to other geeks and snobs hehe
just to be a git.
as much as it can get into OTT debating, i've got some great recommendations from there, esp. with the dream pop and african music threads, it's been good to me too
was made of win.
no one replies to my threads...
But that's hurting me a lot.
although you didn't like the band I recommended :-)
they really weren't to my taste.
That's actually my most successful thread ever.
Ask for JAGs and you get 100 replies !
It can inform, and you can reassess your own opinions. However there's millions of repetitive threads, and people kicking off for no good reason. And pointless hate threads that achieve nothing.
Like most things then, 85% is shit but you need to stick it out for the good 15%.
apply to all music forums, or forums for indie types. Mostly shit opinions from people who would be too scared to air them in real life. The internet - giving the socially inept a voice since 1997.
that every few weeks, you get:
"Which are the best Cure albums, in order?"
It's always that question, without fail, no variation at all.
However, with Sonic Youth, which also comes up every few weeks, the title is always:
"Where to start with: Sonic Youth?"
Also, the Best New Bands threads are brilliant because of the obscure shoutouts and the daftness of the band names. I think everyone who posts in such threads needs to have an 'indie rating' on their profiles, kind of like we get a vote system on threads. If someone posts something about someone noone's ever heard of, you click their rating. Understandably, this plan has its flaws, as the likes of me would click it on everyone's profiles in those threads, whereas the people in those threads would go out of their way NOT to click the rating on each other's profiles.
should point out that I do waste loads of time on the music board though!
