"Nite Owl's costume design was modernized from the spandex of the comic to make him more intimidating."
Yeah cos thats the point of Nite Owl.
best line in the book
"Why I dressed up as an owl. And fought crime."
the secret shame of absurdity about the whole thing is what i love...
they could've kept closer to the spirit of the original
Batman doesn't have difficulty getting it up. This is why Nite Owl > Batman.
I guess it's good that he does look faintly ridiculous. He was always supposed to.
But that's another of the problems the film has; a character can dress up in a silly costume in comic book and we quickly accept it, because that's what happens in comic books. Edge it closer to reality and it becomes.. difficult. Most comic book adaptations get round this by making these characters do eye-popping, extraordinary stunts; but this is Watchmen. I have a terrible feeling that all this sexed-up slo-mo bullet-time fighting is going to seem faintly ridiculous in this world.
my problem is: Wheres the beer gut?
I think she looks awesome. As do Rorschach, Dr. M and the Comedian. Less good: Ozymandias. He looks like Macauly Culkin playing dressup in a Batman & Robin outfit.
I was flipping through the novel yesterday and remembered one of my favourite scenes right at the very end. Laurie's mother and the picture of Blake. Horribly sad, and also terribly dark.
where Laurie and Dan save the people from the tenement fire and try and have sex in the front room with the tv on.
