HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING?
Spurs for Ashavin? You're about to learn a powerful lesson. Again.
I prefer my version.
I hope so.
That said, £18m for David Bentley seems a little inflated. Although this is the home of Darren £18m Bent. Who will score a shit load next season but thats not the point.
Sorry, post-Keane madness.
til he joined Spurs. Postiga was always a bit crap.
when he came on i just knew he would score
8 blokes beat me up, broke my leg in two places and I spent two weeks in hospital. Thanks Helder.
wankers. and yeah, blame helder.
and the police and the bar staff managed to fail to find the culprits.
proves not every european striker we sign is bad
that arshavin is more rebrov than berbatov
No-one was ruined in the way Jason Cundy was though.
£13million for Malbranque and Kaboul.
will be a very good defender given time. Steed is also very competent and gives his all. Thats a bit of a big price for the pair, but they're good signings nonetheless.
But Kaboul I'm not so sure about.
It's more the batch buying that I'm annoyed about. Ramos must be laughing at how easy it's been to get rid of them all.
given time hell be a half decent player maybe, wouldnt say 'very good' though. wouldnt mind keeping him though just in case.
malbranque is a good signing for sunderland though.
Kaboul will go Portsmouth anyway
that sort of standard, adequate, but not great.
who hadnt played this level before. and thats not the case.
with Daws. Give him a break!
but when you spend 7million or whatever it was on a centreback, you expect a bit more?
Well that's me finished for the day.
He won't be crap - you're Spurs. He'll just get injured. Lots.
Back-up with that nonsense...
As has been stated, Rebrov was good (but definitely got great - Schevchenko definitely carried him in that partnership) before he joined us but became rubbish, whilt Postiga was and still is pretty average.
Arshavin was superb in the Euro's and is clearly a very good player. However, the point here is that we don't need him. He's not a striker, he's an attacking midfielder, of which we have more than enough cover. Eto'o FTFW.
i think if we had him and dos santos, it would probabaly lead to us playing a different system, with giovanni and him playing off the main striker, who would be bent. this would be pretty good. although a strike force of arshavin, giovanni and eto'o would get me very excited
He isn't worth the £24 million Zenit want in fees or the £100,000 per week he wants in wages (relatively, of course).
He looks quality, but has performed well in the Russian league, the sometimes laughable UEFA Cup and 4 games at Euro 2008. He might be 27, but he is definitely to be filed under 'potential to be great' rather than 'great'.
Also, LOL at Spurs if they buy him. You know he doesn't want to be there.
Both players who have proven themselves at high levels
plyers who don't want to be there.
so it that would be a nonsensical point.
i think you could argue a player that signs for a club might actually want to be there more than a player that wants to leave.
im sure plenty of spurs players would like to play for real madrid or barcalona, but theyre not good enough...
because a) no-one has bid for Drogba (I suspect we'd sell if a decent one did) and b) Lamaprd has a contract which he has to honour.
Arshavin doesn't want to be at Spurs. Its only an option because Barca and Arsenal (who he has publicly said he wants to play for) aren't interested
He has one year left which he is being forced to do.
im sure most players spurs sign would prefer to play for barca if they came in. so its not really relevant is it?
That may be the case, but which of Spurs current squad publically declared they only wanted to play for Barca before they signed for Spurs?
publicly declared he wanted to move to a club in the Champions League.
and he isn't a Spurs player yet
whether someone goes out and says 'i want to play for barca' in the hope of engineering a transfer, or says in private 'i want to play for barca' makes little difference to his actual opinions upon joining a different club does it?
He'll jump ship the second he gets the chance
but didnt publicly state it wouldnt?
because you can't allow for motivations that a player doesn't make public, can you?
I'm bored of this. Watch, if you sign Arshavin, he'll demand a transfer the second a bigger club sniffs at him
but i think you could claim that a lot of players that sign for spurs would want a transfer when a bigger club sniffs at him. e.g. berbatov
if you sign a player, he might want to leave the second he gets the chance. You don't know, its a risk you have to take.
If Spurs sign Arshavin, they already KNOW for definite he'll abandon them the second he gets the chance. Its not a risk, its a certainty.
he will be at spurs a couple of seasons, will do quite well, then will move on.
just like berbatov.
i dont think spurs are under any illusions regarding signing arshaving
Kinda conflicts with the whole 'breaking into the top 4' thing that Spurs are convinced they'll do
worst thatll come out of signing arshavin is that yeah, best is though, he has an amazing season for us, we break into the top 4.
and I'll be happy.
i think hed be a better signing than bentley
Diego Capel Trinidad
for ruining Rebrov's career. He just completely froze him out
Rebrov was a good player until he joined the Spuds
Personally, I can't believe you ever got rid of Andy Booth
like i said
and giovanni they will give us width. and besides, arshavin is perfectly capable of playing as a support to a main striker
huddlestone is there to shore it up, jenas runs a lot, and modric actually sits quite deep at times from what ive seen.
Jenas and huddlestone are not shit.
i dont think he will bother with an out an out wingback. you forget weve got bale on the other side who is great going forward, and we also signed gunter a little while ago, so i dont think hes lookin at that area, certainly given that he signed hutton only in january
he's actually quite a hard worker defensively.
FEAR STALKS THE LAND
He is awful.
I'll assume you've seen Bent play.
Otherwise, that would be a strong team.
Honestly, I saw 6 or 7 PSV games last year and he was an absolute joke in all of them.
I think he's great.
I think he is a joke and will be a liability next season
knocked us out of the UEFA cup. He was amazing.
although i hope huddlestone improves defensively or we sign a out and out defensive midfielder, and eto'o or another quality striker. then we would be good
although probably with bentley in place of lennon if he signs
Modric will lie alot deeper than Arseshaving.
he looks like the happiest boy alive. Always.
although if we start badly, mid table
provided they sign a couple more players like Bentley, Arshavin etc.
and if Man Utd bid high enough, they're certain to lose Berbatov too. As good as their signings have been (providing they do get Bentley), they'll be back to square one without that strike force
if we had finished 4th then, i think we would have had more of a chance of cementing a place up there
I briefly considered never eating it again, and then remembered that that was a stupid idea.
away from the hotel that served that lasagne. No doubt in my mind it was a West Ham fan responsible.
but its still quite a very Spurs thing to happen. Bless us.
earlier, when I posted this thread in fact, I thought this was increasingly likely. Now the words 'Zenit are waiting for Barca to confirm their position' makes me think we're just being used again as in the Villa and/or Eto'o saga.
All I've seen are his agents comments, saying he wants to come to Spurs <3
that seem to have fallen off my newsnow feed due to the inpending departure of Younes and Steed.
to go with his four the other day. Seems to be hitting some form at an opportune time.
for Keane to leave. I think this will give him the opportunity he needs to start playing regular footy again.
Was Berbs on the bench again?
Arshavin? Well, i dunno. I'm happy with with the signings Juande has made so far, but we wont know till the season starts.
Why can't we offload Jenas? Even i can kick the ball horizontal ffs.....
i think thats more of a reflection of kings brilliant leadership and ability to make anyone look good than dawsons quality though.
i think you could play bramble alongside king and hed look half decent
You talk a lot of bollocks.
Only got the goals and scorers. He didn't score.
And playing as a lone striker today. Berbatov wasn't in the squad.
but I think only Man Utd have real stability up there. Chelsea will as long as Abramovich is there.
I have a feeling they're going to be better this year than they were last. Fabregas, Walcott, Bendtner and Clichy all a year older and better. And players like Ramsey, Wilshire, Vela and Denilson all looking to break through. Looks like Eduardo's going to come back early with little damage too. Can't see Spurs finishing above them for a while yet.
and possibly Adebayor, without yet properly replacing them. More than anything, I think that's going to have a psychological blow on the rest of the squad - Arsenal are no longer a club at the top of football's hierarchy. Arguably that was the case last year as well, with the departure of Henry, and they came back from it stronger than the season before, but things like that have got to take their toll, and I can see them struggling to cope this season.
liverpool and chelsea can just keep spending bajillions to keep themselves up there and man.utd really are *that good* (as well as having bajillions to spend)
if we had to replace someone with would be le arse, for obvious reasons. Liverpool really aren't that consistent, but who knows.
We're signing 'great' players, rather than 'good' players this season, which is a refreshing change.
Dos Santos looks like a steal for $6mil.
No more stopgaps :)
Him, Sean Dundee, and Florian Maurice.
Craig Dudley was a legend too.
