Any recommendations? I've been trawling through Brick Lane but it's just boring me.
by Jeanette Winterson.
Just trust me on this one.
I'll keep a look out for this!
great great great stuff.
That's all of his I've read so far though.
Factotum and WOmen, but tbh he just starts repeating himself in both of those.
probably worth checking out his short stories next, 'the most beautiful woman in town' is a good one to get.
I love this quote from it :
"It was true that I didn't have much ambition, but there ought to be a place for people without ambition, I mean a better place than the one usually reserved. How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?"
Explorations in science - waldemart keampfert, or buy the divine comedies - Dantes inferno.
Easy Riders And Raging Bulls
Conrad's Short Stories
The Quiet American
I love having moneys to spend!
Vernon God Little is amazing as well. I want Me Ves Y Sufre tattooed on me as well after reading it.
If I didn't have super fun plans for Saturday night I'd get my car booty on this Sunday and buy looooads of books for 10p.
Up untill recently I'd been getting through two or three books a week, now all I do it watch flight of the conchords and summer heights high. I feel like I might forget how to read soon.
that's interesting as fuck AND MORE
I will make a list of all the books here I haven't read and try to tick them off before the end of Summer time. I want a geek (no)sun tan.
anything by Haruki Murakami.
Norweigan Wood or The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle in particular.
Wind Up Bird Chronicle today... been tearing through 200-300page books like mad lately so figured something tipping 600 might last a little longer.
50 or so pages in so far and I can see myself finishing this too quickly as well.
Get 'ficcones'/ 'labyrinthes' if you can.
And at least once a week I have to insist that everyone reads 'House of LEaves' by Mark Z Danielewski. I am an English teacher - literature is my passion and this is the best book I have ever read in my 30 years on this tired old planet.
The Rotters' Club
The Good Solider
Le Grand Meaulnes
Death In Venice. Good so far! Plus its really short, so thats always a positive.
