pros and cons? is it difficult?
In the language stakes at least.
However,it is a lovely language.Sounds great. The French will like you.
Although I spent 4 years learning it at school, and the only time I learned anything was in the last 4 months!
It is cool though. They have a tense we lost sometime in the 1500s!
A BITCH TO LEARN
and its only ever written but i start speaking it sometimes. FAIL.
except one you learn certain tenses you cant stop speaking them and then its wrong and ARGH
but. i find it easy
cons - people only really speak french in France, belgium, some places in africa and a few other places you probably wouldn't want to go to.
Ou Est le Biblotheque?
if you've got a decent library nearby you should be able to get hold of a Linguaphone course, I did an entire 8-disc and four book monster and came out at the other side at a level where I could comfortably read Le Monde, but couldn't really speak to anyone in French! Might be a confidence thing. But anyway, it's certainly worth doing, not least because it'll improve your grammar generally (ie. in English too) but you'll also be able to read Lolita without getting annoyed at all the smug French in it. It'll increase your English vocab too as there's so many French words in our language.
Paul Pimsleur and Michel Berlin's courses are really good if you do any driving, as they're audio only so you can learn vocab etc. without having to write stuff down.
This is good too:
thanks alot man
