If you need me, i'll be in the other room, banging my head against the fucking wall.
the world features morons
when things like this are blamed on political correctness. This isn't what political correctness is or should be. It shouldn't be about finding ridiculous things to try and find offence in, it should be about approaching issues sensitively and intelligently and not using demeaning or widely offensive phrases. Which is a good thing.
I just get the feeling from speaking to people that stories like these make people feel like victims of political correctness and there's been a sharp backlash over the last few years, with people 'saying what they think' rather than thinking about what they say.
This isn't anything. It's a silly man with a silly attitude to the world. He should be ignored completely.
i say political correctness gone mad in all these threads. it's the most annoying term in the whole world
Nobody writes political correctness gone mad in capitals without it being a joke. ;-)
But I thought you were being serious about this being political correctness, which I think would probably be a pretty commonly-held view. *thumbs*
I suppose so. But there's no logic to it. It seems to be offence at the mention of the word black in any negative phrase, however unrelated to the race. His worldview must be so detached from reality that I kind of think it goes beyond political correctness and into just plain mental.
...and yet someone still had the nerve to put this race hate advert directly below the piece:
"Teeth Whiteners Exposed"
7 Teeth Whitening Products Tested, Rated, and Reviewed. A Must Read!
short of something important to worry about.
i don't approve
they didnt have to make the guy objecting look like a moron, but they have suceeded.....they have also managed to ask the public for them to decide......letting everyone have the same disagreement.....why didnt the reporter actually explain to the objecting fellow what the term means?
News isnt just about news....its about showing drama
What is most disturbing is that a Judge also objected to this term, which is worrying.....i would be very very scared to be judged by such a judge (mind you some people do maintain that judges are notoriously unaware)
In fact if i were the US legal system i would consider this fellows fitness to preside over important legal matters.
and about 300 people (2.27%) have voted that the term is indeed racist. Either they're just taking the piss or they're idiots.
patiently what a black hole is? Wouldnt that be more of a public service?
but some obviously are that stupid
I like ChrisJabe
And I will maintain that forever regardless of whatever argument you throw at me against this position.
should have just allowed himself to crack up and laugh at th objector....its probably the best policy.....laughter in the face of idiocy
may I join u?
That would be a black mark against all their names.
So let's hope they're not yellow.
his issue lies with the negative connotations associated with the word 'black'.
A black hole is obviously destructive hence his problem with the term, but the stupidity is amazing! If he looked beyond the narrow-sightedness of his views then he'd actually realise that yes it is a 'hole' and yes it is literally 'black'.
Also black holes are like the recycle bins of the universe.
Stick that in yer PC pipe mister!
said that muslims were offended everyone here would be saying "Oh, it's not even real". You already know that, just putting it out there. With a nice big SAFETY WINK! ;) ;) ;)
to the 'postcard of a puppy' story. Which was completely different.
When I was in india i queried some fellows I was freindly with as to why they were tearing out a chunk of their packet of beadies they had brought.
They explained that they were tearing off the image of Ganesh (cos thats a himdu god and they were muslim)
I thought that this was a wonderfully pragmatic and undramatic approach to living within an imperfect reality
In fact, quite a lot.
they're very aromatic but also very annoying as they keep going out.
I didnt think it was going over the top....i did initially wonder if they had to tear off the picture if made it alright that they were actually buying ganesh brand.....but on reflection its ok cos they are being measured and reasonable in their response.....
theyre quite nice
this is fucking ridiculious. i remember a time where silly complainers and whiners got no attention at all. all of a sudden you hear this type of bullshit everywhere.and what's even worse is that we buckle and aologize for something that no one should apologize for. the "black hole" comment was in no way, shape, or form racist and this john wiley guy is clearly an idiot of the highest order. even i, a black man myself, would never find such a comment racist ever and i clearly can't comprehend why anyone else would think that it would be in the first place. fuck him.
We only hear it all the time because the papers report it every time it happens, however insignificant the person who said it.
with smoking something with a picture of ganesh on it? That's my point. Were they not comfortable with the existence of other religions?
unlike black holes, they are actually racist.
although the blokes a massive tool, they could actually use this as anti black propaganda really.
look at the crazy black man, WE CANT SAY ANYTHING ANYMORE COZ OF PEOPLE LIKE HIM! etc. etc.
