The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Bizarrely I've only just read this as one of those books you've been meaning to read but haven't got round to it - what a terribly haunting and sad book (well short story) and if you take out the 'gruesome' murder there is something about the very soul of man in the character of Henry Jekyll that I found quite heartbreaking - the torment of feeling like two or maybe more people more out of fantasy or obligation or shame or boredom, something that in modern life is probably more endemic than 120 years ago. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
