She's not very funny though is she? Cute as a button though.
Haven't heard "schwing" in forever.
But yeah, women are there to look pretty, not for the funny.
For she is neither.
I thought her job was to make Jo Brand look comely and sound amusing.
She's quite good on QI
I was round my nan's, and I remember it seeming REALLY late. She was wearing a big black top, and was being really crude. I think she may have said "cunt", prompting my nan to switch over
and he's prone to calling women who aren't slender/well-titted/hott/my mum/my sister "utter dyke[s]"
just Jo Brand doesn't do it for me. I have tried and it's not even her 'period material', which there is a lot of mind, that puts me off.
pamphlet they advertise after Hollyoaks
2) joke about men
3) another attempt to be funny not using the above two that requires someone else to step in and actually make it funny.
4) George bush is stupid isnt he?
you didnt mention cake once
Her voice is abit annoying sometimes though.
My eyes kept on finding themselves heading down to that little bit of cleavage of hers though
when they do the bit when they go to the mic when set a theme. FUCK OFF. they all try and go every time. you see them get fucked off when that idiot from punt and dennis wins the race again
actually, that's not strictly true .... i saw 15 minutes of 'bonekickers' the other night .... mock the week is a worthy runner up.
It is a poor mans Have I Got News For You, but it has moments of being funny. They also don't go edgy enough. Today's final round was crying for a Harold Shipman joke.
you have not seen poverty till you see it. 15mins old and I hate it more than the War.
I can't find Andy Parsons funny at all
He does that annoying thing. of looking around. and pausing. before delivering. his punch line
And Russell Howard can sometimes be good. Frankie Boyle and Dara are the only consistent ones.
But if just reminds me a bit of an excitable child
Frankie Boyle is pretty awesome though
the rest are shite though
it's like a 9 year old delivering a joke in the playground
Like Gina Yashere.
at least 3 times a day
see you in 5 mins
looked quite like her
called Bare Necessities or some such so may involve nakedness. Just thought I'd let you know. Pity she's not funny. Or at least wasn't tonight anyway.
Well, that was my thought whilst watching this last night.
Yeah, that's about right.
Frankie - very funny
Dara - funny enough, good host
posh guy - pretty funny, funnier in the 'look at the idiot' kind of way
russell - pretty funny
andy - not very good last night, can be good though
lucy - not very funny really, a couple of moments. she had better not be a tema captain all series
thingybob from my hero - i like him. he's good.
i was indeifferent, if not a bit cynical towards him. But he did a very good set, perfectly pitched for the festival crowd, and I laughed heartily. This was probably helped by the fact that Mark Steel (who was why I was in the comedy tent) was a bit disappointing. I wanted a history lecture thing, and he did so-so stand up.
He's brilliant. Have you read his history of the french revolution?
the man is brilliant with the history stuff. I might look see if you can buy his stuff in audio.
is that a proper book? (history of the french revolution)
Can't remember what it's called, but it's brilliant. It'll be on Amazon.
there's a fair chunk on here, including Mark Steel Lectures on audio book! Who'd a thunk it.
i think this is my dream book
I think you mean vive la revolution http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vive-Revolution-Mark-Steel/dp/0743208064/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215768965&sr=1-2
just ordered amazon yesterday though :( i need a new book, might go waterstones at lunch
I KNOW IT'S EVIL BUT I KNOW WHAT BOOK I WANT
on a repeat of QI last night, she was attractive, and I was confused. Stephen Fry made a joke about puting his nose into a ladies part. I laughed, my brother was confused. Then I watched the cricket.
or the ginger one? they were both a bit, er, mature for my tastes really.
I loved it when stephen fry wouldn't let alan davies speak at the end, even though he had a 'hilarious anecdote' about Harry Hill.
The ginger one obviously, what do you take me for?
I'd take you for a walk in the national forest, then a nice jalfrezi with meesi roti and dum aloo, a couple of sharp cobra beers and then an all nighter of Botham's Ashes.
can you produce a pamphlet?
marry shag kill disseminate?
they needn't worry about being pressured into sex, thats fo sho.
that baseball cap at that jaunty angle....hubba hubba
i'll try my luck with the other three.
Just slightly and only externally. I knew this guy, he was brilliant with the nose. And far too alone in using it.
jokes lots though, so she does have a sense ogf humour. She is cute as you say
... and I thought that was awesome. I don;t think the panel show format suits her. I don't find her particularly attractive.
So in conclusion, my opinion is (almost) directly opposite to yours.
p.s. why is everyone so against funny women? Feminists were 100% right about this sort of thing. First discredit, then sexualise. just make sure the women know their place.
on the off-chance you actually come back and ever look at this site for a second time - which you won't.
you've committed the cardinal sin of assuming that men can only view women as a) sex objects or b) something else, which is of course balls. it was the same with that fucking ana ivanovic thread. just because someone's good looking does not mean we only appreciate them that way - ana ivanovic is a very talented tennis player perhaps with a slight tendency to buckle under pressure, and she's also good looking. i'm allowed to say she's good looking as much as i'm allowed to say she's a great tennis player. SHE IS BOTH OF THOSE THINGS. ditto for lucy porter - depending on who you listen to she's either very funny or not funny, and either good looking or ugly, or something. as humans we have the right to judge anyone the hell we like, male or female, on their looks, their abilities and their personalities, and frankly, trying to remove one of these spheres smakcs of personality issues on your part. k?
sign up just to post that in a 3 day old thread?
women just aren't very funny.
HI PHIL! :D
Was pretty disappointing to be honest...
which doesn't involve her getting her tits out could fairly be described as "disappointing".
you signed up just to post in a 6 month old thread on a music forum?
Oh my, my walled castle is being pillaged.
and this is me you were making a tv eye joke. realising
who are pretty well known, of whom only about 20 are really funny (IMO). Hence why, of the whole, oh, 30 female comedians on TV, none of them are funny. The funniest woman on TV is probably Holly Wiloughby, and she's not even a comedian. Or comedienne. I've no idea which is more or less PC.
Katy Brand makes me want to actually kill people.
It's not even sexism to say so, it's simple biology/evolution. They have no need to be funny and never will. I said in another thread last week that there has never been a funny female comedian who wasn't subconsciously trying to be a man. Because stand-up is such a male dominated environment, a woman needs to be ballsy, loud, OTT and very aggressive - all traits synonymous with the male of the species. Oh, sure, Porter and her ilk may bring a slight smile to the face, but I guarantee you will never fall out of your chair laughing at a female comedian because they don't have the LOL factor. Even Sarah Silverman, a woman many repeatedly try to harass me into finding uproarious, is simply rather crass and obvious.
Something I find rather galling is the fact that I never seem to have seen a stand up comedienne who didn't have at least three period jokes. Now while I'm sure that bleeding for five days a month as a means of expelling waste tissues is fascinating, it does not a witty comment make. How would these hormone besmirched vessels of love respond if I came up with a selection of jokes discussing the finer points of my colon? Not positively, I'm afraid. Of course, there are plenty of male comedians guilty of this shit, too, but at least there's a handful of decent ones - your Baileys, your Holnesses, etc - to make up for it. Women comedians have no such saviors, because as I've said, they're universally unfunny.
Oh, to be sure, certain women, not necessarily comedians, such as Alexa Chung, Silverman, et al, they're 'quirky', they're 'zany', but to describe them as 'funny' is to do the word itself a grave disservice.
To be sure, women are often our intellectual superiors, our moral betters, the fairer of the sexes, but I submit that the only way a woman would ever, under any stretch of the most imaginative of imaginations, be considered hilarious or even amusing is if her breasts flattened out, her testosterone levels increased, and her vagina healed up and became the fabled meat and two vegetables.
One of my female flatmates is pretty much the funniest people I've met at uni.
There aren't any funny stand-ups that I know of, but women definitely can be funny without being masculine. They'll never get as many laughs, espcecially from men, but this part of pretty wide gender expectations ie. a person's entire personality.
It's not acceptable for women to behave like a classic Fool, or to be overly-eccentric, and if they do they seem like "dykes," or hysterical which clouds the humour of what they're saying/doing. It's not endearing for women to be bumbling and see the world in obsolete and skewed ways, and even to be self-deprecating, so you don't get the pathos that funny men provide. There's also no need for the assertiveness of telling a really spot-on joke to prove your superiority, cos yeah - women would only intimidate men if they were all witty, and don't need it to attract them.
So most female comics use disdain and sarcasasm, which tire quite easily.
Other point: women have much more efficient humour filters - some men laugh at anything.
i think i can be quite funny sometimes, like irl, not on here, i seem like i take myself too seriously on here. what do you think atbay?
:( that's one of the worst typos. Silly, fake Irish accents are not good.
i know there's no reason they shouldn't but i can't associate it properly in my head and when i meet a pretty girl that likes really good music or is really funny it BLOWS MY MIND.
and old fashioned/narrow people like orsonwellesrabbit
want to swap mixtapes?
i don't really get into argumenttypethings unless i'm in a bad mood.
