its good isnt it?
You can't let him in the war room, he'll see the big board!
That was the only bit I really laughed at.
I was pretty disapointed overall.
pretty much everything Sellars does in it is hilarious, it's really really powerful in places, acheingly funny satire and it has produced some of the most memorable and iconic frames in modern cinema.
because I'm perfectly capable of being just as sorry as you are
"you can't fight in here, this is the war room". it's a very cheap laugh.
i mean it's all good fun, but there are many better anti-war satires.
not when sellers delivers it. Plus there are a million funnier lines that seem overlooked. The general is terrifying and funny at the same time. I wouldn't say it was "overrated" at all.
"you've dropped your gun, Jack"
but it was wicked from what I remember. I also have the book it was bassed on but I haven't read it yet. It's called Red Alert or something.
this is the war room!
say your prayers
sellers is funnier in lolita, the opening scene in that is pretty much funnier than the whole of strangelove, in my humble opinions.
to get a quarter to call the Whitehouse, he'll be fully responsible to the Coca-cola corporation of America.
Kubrick's 2nd best
and Sellers film
but from a purely cinematic ahead-of-its-time masterpiece aspect I can't help thinking 'The Killing' tops it
I've seen Dr Strangelove in the cinema as well - it was well good. The friend I went with (oddly enough) went on to top the UK charts!
