apparently they're evil. Can someone explain?
yes he is
1. they buy up affordable homes and turn them into more expensive/luxury properties, meaning that it is much more difficult for people to buy a cheap house AND drives the price of rents up.
2. they turn any and every piece of urban land that is not currently producing a massive enough profit for the local council's self esteem into horrible soulless new build appartment blocks, and turn previously working class areas into "up and coming" areas, thus driving poor people into more and more ghettoised areas.
I know someone who lives on a boat moored by London Bridge. The moorings have been there for a hundred and twenty years. The new apartments just next to them have been there for 6. The residents and the property developers are lobbying the council to have the moorings removed cos they ruin their view of the river. scum
buying a house and doing it up to a percieved 'lifestyle' so people can pay over the odds, when really most people want to buy a house in a bit of a wreck and do it up themselves in order to live in it and cherish it - so, some of them are cynical and evil and its always good when you see a prog and they fuck up - saw this couple buy a 'pad' above a pub in Islington, who went out and spent 10K on a 'media system' because 'city types just want to come back from work and have every boy toy of theirs on tap' - happily they made massive losses and had to live in it themselves, with all their credit cards maxed out and a massive mortgage. Good.
delapedated house and make them habitable.
If some fuck wits want to pay an extra £10,000 because they can't see past a an old coat of paint that's up to them.
They do this because there is demand.
Not all people want to spend the first 6 months in their new house doing it up.
and strip them of assets in order to make money for themselves.
one of those awful programmes and watch the fuckers at work.
This does not include Grand Designs.
and Simon wants a funky city crash pad near his work'
I hope these people are defaulting like fuck right now
A city qwash pad.
became a bit of a fashion and was done with the expectation of large returns for those with money to invest.
With more an more people jumping on the bandwagon of it because of ever increasing housing prices this became ridiculous....because it was obvious that property prices were over inflated by like ridiculously massive ammounts.
Property developemnet and the effects that this had gave a large false and desceptive 'boom' to economies....this was false.....false optimism (stupid if you considered that anyone with half a brain must have realised that the bubble must burst at some point.
Because of the irresponsible and suicidal increases in house prices (first initiated during the yuppie years where the previous rules of 2.5 - 3 times your salary, for mortgages was pretty ridgidly applied plus 1-1.5 times that of your partners salary)
Whatever changed in those yuppie years that allopwed the financial institutions to start lending more and more then allowed the house prices to go up even more.....so we then have increaded credit borrowing, and where has all the debt gone? Into rewarding property and housiong speculation.....................now much of the country is more in hock to the previous benefit of property speculators.
Financial institutions and Housing/property speculators are betweenm them, the cause of the increased debt in the UK (Probably elsewhere too) (OK individuals then buying another house dont have much choice in this)
Because there was the perception that their house value had gone up, ordinary individuals felt that they could thus run up largish debt on credit (because of their 'apparent' gain in equity) (banks were all too willing to allow this and ancouraged it) A false apparent booming economy results asa people buy stuff on the never never.
I wouldnt just blame property speculators...I would equally blame the financial instritutions as they worked in conjunction to produce the bankruptsy we now have. Of course ordinary individuals also have gone along with it, but they havnt been so proactive in pushing it, the have just 'not made a stand against it' (difficult for someone to do in isolation)
Financial institutions and property speculators/developers have made some profit from pushing this forward however.........hence they are more culpable.......since others will all now pay as a result of the profits that they and the financial institutions made, they are hated.....simple as
and from what I can tell are quite successful. They're certainly not evil either
nut as you say they have done quite well out of this.
Unfortunately most of the country has not done well out of this behaviour (multiplied by others)
Most of this country now has crippling debt and a totally out of likter balance book, also on this false optimism has been based the growth of much 'useless' biusiness (which will soon dissappear)
It is because 'They have done well' yet the majority of the country will now suffer very very very severely as a price for the phenomena of the extended false 'property boom', that they are hated by some.
It was the desire for potentially very large profits with relatively little work that annoys others that didnt exploit the false optimism to that extent.
Thus they are regarded as evil by some......maybe....its quite a common occurance that when others have little and others who are well off make even more money and exacerbate the plight of the not well off that such people are sometimes called greedy or evil by some people
....they are easier targets then........traditionally humans like personifying evil and thuis making it less frightening.......
I personally actually refer to it by its true demon name and regard IT as my enemy (not humans....as they are not likely to be as strong as such a demon....so how coulfd they possible stand up to mammon)
I at least call it by its true name, I wish others would, it would do us all good to see things like that
especially if they have worked up from no money through sheer hard work and don't do evil things like sit on property in good locations leaving it to rot because they know they can cash in at some point.
However it's usually a case of people who already start with tons of money and then property is a pretty sure-fire way to expand that wealth. Therefore not really evil but just a very easy and unadmirable way to make loads of money rather than do anything more worthwhile with their lives.
