BBC1 10:35 tonight's Imagine... is about Werner Herzog. The man's such a fucking legend. I can't wait. Any other fans?
and was so completely affected by it. It's one of my favourite films ever. I'll definitely tape this.
his film about Buddhism, before the Nick Cave night on Friday.
I actually admire him
about people who live in the antarctic the other day it was really cool
I've just set the recorder for later.
Has anyone seen Rescue Dawn? Is it any good?
but it's not as affecting as Little Dieter Needs To Fly (the documentary it's based on). As a mainstream film it's brilliant though. Christian Bale and Steve Zahn are both excellent in it.
i quite enjoyed the film but wasnt sure how i felt about it after reading them, seemed a bit weird
What was said? I imagine Werner rolled out the old "It's unimportant, I'm interested in truth beyond facts" chestnut.
the thing was he'd kinda misrepresented stuff he actually seemed to know, characters behaving in completely invented ways and such, the guy who was portrayed as a bit mad was actually meant to have been very altruisitic and stuff. its a bit curious, herzog seems to have been a bit sheepish in the face of the criticism which suggests he probably knows he done wrong
im not sure what i make of it, its not like he's a bit one for historical accuracy or plot like you say, its more about weird ideas and unique footage, but still, some of the stuff is kinda lame...
good stuff. hopefully my sky+ remote is gonna turn up in the next 20 minutes so i can get recording.
also, whenever he says something totally insane he says it in the most rational way, so you don't realise it's weird until a few seconds later. i imagine this is how he got the money for "even dwarfs started small"
todays climate. They'd probably make a TV series out of it as well.
My favourite film of his.
it's fucking mental. there is no way it would get made today!
but its such an amazing film.
very very very sorry for being a lame pedant
