this is actually THE BEST second hand book shop in the world. I went on something of a spree there. it were dead fun!
i like 2nd hand bookshops
it was the most old fashioned place ever. Piles of books bigger than waist height all over the floor as well as shelves, two wizened old Glaswegian men running it, talking about dodgy sounding pub raids "you had to buy a muffin to get a pint"....all the cash worked out in the owner's head and the cash stored in a big oak desk draw.
the guy who ran it was really old though, so I guess it's not long til another place like that disappears forever :(
The record shop next to it looks not bad too. Did you go to tchai ovna?
it were nice.
i didn't dare go in the record shop because i knew i'd spend loadsa money.
Tchai Ovna reminded me of Oaklahoma in Manchester which is similarly awesome. You should come stay with me sometime Joshy and i'll tek thee there.
I bought a copy of A Confederacy of Dunces, and Black Mischief by Waugh and some weird book on Kate Bush and London Fields by Martin Amis, which I thought was a pretty good haul really.
I miss Glasgow. Despite the fact it's two yearz away, reading Inspector Rebus on the train made me really tempted to apply to do an MA in Scottish Literature at Glasgow. Or maybe I'll just move there. I think I could live off a diet of cute tenements, indie discos, pints of Deuchars and a big, exciting, totally foreign feeling (to me) city.
we could hold gigs there too! best idea ever.
wanna murder the old man to speed up the procesS?
i'm in glasgow today, with not much to do, apart from "working"
In a little courtyard type thing off the main road. You should go to everything there.
i found Glasgow intimidatingly massive, so I can't really help beyond that.
