Wanted
Quick capsule review:
I realised after watching this that it was directed by the same guy who did Nightwatch. This should go some way to explaining why at one point a man is hit in the face with a computer keyboard; the keys go flying toward the viewer in slow motion - just slow enough so that you can appreciate that they spell "F.U.C.K.Y.O.U.". Fuck yeah.
None of the characters have any personality whatsoever. This is especially true of Angelina Jolie's character, whose motivation for anything she did during the film, I'm still trying to work out. James McAvoy is good as the character he usually plays: An immensely punchable man. Gratifyingly, he is punched in the face about 90 times during the course of this movie.
He is also fucking stupid - the 'twist' that occurs is of the 'puzzle with one piece' variety. And he still needs it's providence spelled out to him very slowly, even though it was telegraphed to everyone in the audience about half an hour back.
He should also win some sort of award for most accents featured in one film. It starts off in New York, does a quick tour of the States, gets pissed off in the middle of the film and decides to go home to Blighty, before realising it's mistake and coming back to settle in Chicago.
On the other hand, none of this matters even a bit because you get to see people get shot and blown up in a variety of ways and speeds, and you get to see Jolie nude from behind - just a hint of boob. And Morgan Freeman says "motherfucker". That's gold no matter where it is.
8/10 unless you think about it, then 4/10.
