He's been stripped of his Knighthood and we've cancelled the cricket. Take that!
(and the victims of human rights abuses)
and at least two things more than South Africa have done about the situation, so there.
they can probably empathise.
Rdodesia declared UDI, British forces were not involved in the war in any way.
It was the Rhodesian white minority government's predominantly white armed forces who were fighting Mugabe's lot.
cringing at the photos of him greeting mugabe in downing street...
Due to the fact that Mbeki and Mugabe are BIG pals. Mbeki has often referred top Mugabe as his Uncle, and a few years back he (Mbeki) passed a similar land recall act for tribal herdsmen to get a few farms given back to them for grazing land. These farms generated about 5000 jobs all in all. Sound familiar?
Please. South Africa to be fair is heading right down along side Zimbabwe as those two Racist family friends hold hands and watch from the million pound houses whilst their people starve and die. the fact that last year Mbeki 'joked' that due to him having two thirds majority vote he was able to change the constitution to allow him an extra term in as President. Something Bob Mugabe did. I honestly predict that next year's SA elections won't go ahead and he will make that change!
Why is there no military support being deployed there by the UN?
In fact where is the UN? Surely the increase in civilian casualties as well as the blatant abuse and torture of these said people is reason enough to get involved? I just don't get it. They 'super powers' sit in anti-terrorist conferences that cost millions to hold and all they do is drink tea and talk. Nothing gets done! it makes me sick!
That would require a UN Security Council Resolution which would need to be unanimous.
China is propping up Zimbabwe and investing billions in Africa as part of it's plans to bring the entire continent into it's sphere of influence, securing minerals/oils, etc for future industrial growth. With that in mind China would NEVER endorse military intervention so it simply cannot and will not happen.
The only African country that is up to it militarily is South Africa and even then, only just. Say what you like about Apartheid, but the the South African armed forces were extremely well trained. Ever since they replaced the top brass with ex guerillas everythign has gone to shit, probably explaining why there are so many white South Africans joining the British army instead of their own.
but Mbeki will never deploy. Never, due to the fact he actually does support Mugabe.
the whole barclays thing to me, is it cos they've let some of his 'goons' have accounts and stuff?
FOR GOD, THE QUEEN AND ST GEORGE.
or is it like the ABSOLUTE last resort?
Have we stripped Bin Laden of his OBE yet?
and is now refusing to give it back!
Mark Thatcher or Ross Kemp.
he'd team the gangs up together and get them to take down the president whilts looking menacing/thoughtful/sad
to be fair, bar tooling in up and heading in, I'm not sure what the world can do.
We could impose some economic sanctions on them but we already know that wouldn't work.
Maybe the only way is to tell him he can leave in safety and live out his days as a private citizen, like Idi Amin.
What i really want to know is.. where does he get those wicked jackets from?
