I'll ask again - what do other people use please?
I don't have one. Someone buy me one, please.
I need something with 20GB and 1GB RAM or something. COme on geeks but don't get too technical
and are easily confused by choices and options...... yeah go for a mac it seems like it will fit.
that goes with buying a lap top - will it support 3 programmes - one which is drums the other orchestral and the other SOnar?
THankn you definition!
Not that I'm invovled in making any music that is...........
the drums and orchestral stuff u want to run!
BFD for example is dam slow on less than 4gb of ram in my experience and streaming vienna symphonic would probs not work of same hard disk either.
but you pay for it, and you have to check that the software you want runs under OSX. You can run Windows on modern macs, but that's useless if you want to run one as a plugin, one as a host, etc. And if you're running in windows the whole time then you might as well buy a PC.
Basically, if you're going the PC route, you just need to shop around for a good deal. Put aside some money for a good audio interface, then spend as much as possible on maximising the amount of RAM and CPU power you get for your money. If you care about what it looks like, how heavy it is, etc, then you're going to have to go into looking at brand names and models in shops to decide what you like (don't buy them from the high street though). If you're not worried, go for whatever cheapo brand you can find on internetzz (Acer or Asus?).
it's about half the price of a Macbook too
