Can't Buy Alcohol in Shops Till You're 21
Still Allowed to Buy Alcohol in Pubs Aged 18
its going through at moment
I threw it up, you hit it out the park.
And I know I'm over 21, yadda yadda yadda.
Shops don't have any way to stop people drinking the alcohol they sell acting 'antisocially'. If you drink in a pub and act like a twat, you will get kicked out.
Another thing that they could (maybe should) have done is kept the age limit the same and introduced compulsory ID checks every time alcohol is served, regardless of how old the customer looks.
x2 Beer Prices
x4 Cider Prices
(this is in shops)
It won't really affect more expensive types of beer as these are charged at above 40p per unit (I think that was the figure) already.
It means that you won't be able to get a bottle of "White Strike" for 89p anymore, but do you want to admit to that affecting you?
The only time when I'll probably be affected by this is if I pick up a crate of Tennants for cheap party beer and even then the price difference will be negligible.
And remember, off licencers are crafty folk, they'll find way around putting all their prices sky high.
and we're a brewer. Its going to be tough getting around it, very tough
Tennents pricing per litre looks like its going to have to be doubled. Its what i'm being told.
I'm not living in Scotland, i'm concerned for the move down to E&W for this if it seems to be proven to 'work' for Scotland.
Yes, i like big cheap bottles of cider at festivals and sunny days in the park when its the end of the month and im skint.
