Product placement in television

mac_daddy [Edit] [Delete] 12:45, 16 June '08

So, slow day in DiS towers thus as usual I have resorted to reading Charlie Brooker's weekly rant on the Guardian website. (Just for the record I like Charlie but he tries too hard to be witty and 'Look at me, look how funny I am!' still, better than most of the guardian i suppose)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/jun/16/television.advertising

For those of you who are lazy or just plain don't like Brooker, the main crux of the article is that ITV have been denied the ability to use product placement to advertise on their TV programmes.

What's your opinion on the subject? Would you object to someone smearing Marmite on their toast on camera, or wiping their arse with Andrex branded toilet paper? Would you just find the whole damn thing annoying as hell? Does anyone watch anything on ITV except the football anymore?

Answers on a postcard.
