JSA and how it works
Okay, so if you quit your job it's 26 weeks or something until you can claim it. And it was longer ago than that, so I can, joy etc.
Well, anyhow, I'm going in either today or tomorrow I guess, and wanted to know if:
a) They make you take any work? I really, really do not want to work in a shop/call centre. I'm bad with people. I'm horrifically bad with people. I probably come across as borderline autistic when dealing with people. My voice gets funny and I stop making sense and I panic, and yeah, it just doesn't work out so well. I've applied for a ton of adminy type positions (with no success) but haven't tried with shopwork/call centre type things - will they make me do this if I'm signing on? Or do they give you at least a while for you to try get a job that isn't going to destroy you? And if so, how long is that period?
b) And if they do generally let you have a bit applying for the jobs you prefer, is it okay to say directly to them that I don't want shop / call centre work? Or does that come across as bad?
c) I quit my job in October, and didn't start properly applying for jobs until earlier this year? Do I pretend that I've been looking longer - or is that okay?
And that's kind of pretty much it I think.
Thanks, etc.
