I haven't noticed any real difference in speed.
it just feels easier, somehow
But some people *cough* theo! *cough* like to pretend that there are better ways to browse the internet. Then they tell you how good Linux is.
Linux is down to 6th. Sorry Linux!
I use Opera because it's got a funky black and white mode that makes browsing at work better.
seems to do the job with less fuss
makes you look cool for rebelling against microsoft (in reality does nothing of the sort)
Does IE belch out carbon every time I use it?
no, it's just that Firfox takes up less space on the computer that IE.
nb people tend to have IE as well so makes no real difference
I've also had problems with Firefox streaming videos recently.
Such as piclens are quite useful. There's a whole list of add-ons that make browsing the net easier/ more fun!
or im thick.i just use IE because its on my computer at home and ive always used it
IE 6 is irritatingly rubbish these days, though. IE 7 is nice.
IE7 is a really strong browser in my eyes and better then Firefox 2 for general browsing.
Firefox isn't my favourite though.
IE was really insecure (not in the emo sense) for a while, and fiefox wasn't.
plus firefox had tabs and fancy applications, and customer support.
I just stuck with it i guess.
since it's not hooked into your operating system it's not as easy for a virus/worm writer to gain access to your entire PC (although not impossible!). There's also arguments that it's less buggy in terms of security stuff and any issues that are found tend to be fixed quicker.
To be fair, on at least the first part mentioned there, IE is much better than it was when Firefox first took off.
the other things such as security are pretty much true and the plugins make it really flexible. However in tests IE7 scored higher then FF2 in terms of scrolling and rendering as well as the fact its got higher compatibility.
So it depends what u want it for, I got enough items to my disposal to use IE7 on this laptop but on my old chuggernaught of a PC it uses Firefox 2
