Every second bunch of 'lads' I passed tonight appeared to be conducting animated conversations about:

1) Fights they've just had
2) Fights they nearly had, but much to their dismay failed to materialise
3) Fights they had some time ago
4) Their aim to have a fight with persons known or unknown in the near future.

Typically these exchanges were punctuated with spitting, punching actions and liberal use of the word 'fucking'.

Is this the ultimate manifestation of Thatcherism, a truly selfish society in which people are entirely wrapped up in themselves and have no consideration for those around them, where everyone else is a potential adversary?

If so, you can consider me a socialist.
