I grew up in a shitty town called Brynmawr, 2 1/2 hours away from anywhere. Choices were limited, children extracting children, broken box factories....a big cloud of nothingess....no culture apart from the local Chinese take-away, binge drinking, larger licking, stout sniffing activities.
Nice people though.
Anyway what inspired me had to be the Manic Street Preachers. I blame them for getting me into books, magazines, bands, lepordskin...If it hadn't been for such a band that sang lyrics that I could identify with, a band that walked around like four poofs instead of membrs of the the Welsh rugby team, that lookd more misfitted than the Ramones...I don't know if I would be into what I'm into now.
I probably would be, but it would have taken me a long time to find out about George Orwell, The Smiths...etc tc.
Sorry I'm having a slight nostalgic Manic Street Preachrs day today.
I'm actually banging on like some nostalgic cunt.
But anyway, who ispired you as you grew up?? Were books, magazines...bands...poets etc etc what inspired you?
