i reckon it was when they ate the dog.
THUS i posit that "jumping the shark" be renamed "eating the dog".
so I forgive it, last nights episode had 2 or 3 laughs but was terribly averae and had a TERRIBLE ending. The only way I can save it is if they build on Mark and Dobby somehow as all these introduced charecters is making it feel soooo rushed.
can people please learn what jumping the shark actually means?
one of the best moments in British comedy EVER though.
It just set too dangerous a precedent.
the writers engineered the scene was fucking painful. Uurgh
or say anything positive about anything ever?
Th thing is, negativity is as utterly vital as positivity and you're a fucking fool for not realising it.
feel free to extrapolate my personality from a few off-handed posts on a fucking internet forum. It's terribly becoming on you.
but is 'eating the dog' basically the equivalent of 'them actually setting off a nuclear bomb' in season 6 of 24, in that it upped the ante to a level where it couldn't really be upped any more?
its when a show's writers have clearly done all that they can with the idea that originally made the show great and they get a bit desperate and change it and its not as good
When Mark and Jez accused the instructor of sexual assault and shitting in the pool - that was the point at which they became more bastards than losers. It was also the first of many ridiculous situations the writers clearly had no clue how to resolve. Although maybe "Mummy" is the symbolically important jumping the shark-esque moment.
on any other level than "eating the dog" sounds better :)
Falsely accusing of soiling the pool.
...doesn't have the same ring.
It's still great.
final episode of the last series where Jeremy pisses himself in church and Mark's marriage falls through could have been the crowning glory of the show - resolving the main running plot and so they are kind of back to square one. And the church pissing was hilarious.
This series they are struggling, last night's episode was really scraping the barrell - only the 'wanking and crying' line got me LOLing.
People on this forum prefer hating things to liking them. Last night's episode was a bit weak but the others have been excellent. If you think it's become terrible, stop watching it and don't whine about how it's gone down the pan every single week. It's tedious.
and shows that aren't are much better when they stay quite low-key, which it did pretty well in the first two series.
with gunny and 'the minor sexual assault', was one of the best I've seen (and I've seen 'em all).
But the previous three episodes were not particularly funny, like at all.
but I thought the stuff with Jeremy and his mum was terribly written.
