EVERYBODY RUN AND HIDE!!!!!!!!!!
epicentre southwest of Sellfoss (I think)
Citizens are urged to keep by a radio.
This is a bit shit.
"The population in the area of this earthquake if 23 people/km².
The earthquake occurred at 14h local time. At this time a day, more people are at work and therefore more vulnerable to collapsing office buildings. During traffic hours, people can be affected by collapsing bridges and other road infrastructure. "
If only 23 people/km2, I doubt if there are any office blocks and road infrastructure.
You're quicker than the news!
"there is a massive earthquake just north of me...(name) just phoned me :S"
God really didn't like that new Sigur Ros single huh
A bad earthquake, around 6.7 on the Richter Scale occurred around the South - Southwest part of Iceland at around 15:44.
It built up slowly and looked like it was petering out when it worsened...reports say the ground was moving up and down similar to being out at sea
There's no news as yet about casualties but ambulances have been sent west.
It was felt all over the country but was worst in Sellfoss (medium sized town in the South)
because it's on http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7426369.stm
may be worse than earlier thought.
25000km of the country felt it, affecting 7 people
Höjkur says: oh, wow. they're saying on the news that the earth has been shaking relatively non stop in hveragerði and selfoss since the big quake
