I have been told I'm like Nick Carraway and Amory Blaine. I don't think either is very flattering :(
as every teenage boy is, at one point.
Atbay got compared to Pinky from Brighton Rock, which is cool.
yes_ got compared to Humbert Humbert once.
were you a pretentious middle class manic depressive?
Saying that I would say Catcher in the Rye is one of my fave books.
who would you compare me to?
in War and Peace
I.e a super smug cunt
And Jane is sweet, if not much otherwise.
I hate that book. It's horrible. I know it's all about context and stuff but the way she suddenly switches once she see's darcy's estate is horrid. And she is a horrible smug cunt, as I find Austen's writing. I read it in the voice of the narrator from Desperate Housewives.
"That was the moment that Elizabeth realised that things were not ALWAYS as they seem..."
really balanced and subtly ironic
although im not a fan of elizabeth at alllll
but it just annoys me so much. It's not sexy at all and not poetic enough for me. It's like the literary version of "Quote Quote": The humour is only funny if you feel you're in on "the loop", and even then not very funny at all.
all the juxtapositions are really obvious
or that it's just not your cup of tea, in which case that doesn't mean there's a problem with the writing. Because it is humorous, and overall really kind of delightful. I'm pretty sure I laughed and gasped in worry aloud at bits.
I appreciate that it's well written in a technical sense, I just find it smug and it "says nothing to me about my life". It's not sexy or salacious or vital in any way.
because i look vagely similar to the girl who played her in the film with k. knightly and was a bond girl.
Are you a cowardly, though dashing, empire supporting bully?
but you haven't humped your way across Europe.
just like they made sabrina the teenage witch books. not that i'd know about them...
i... i had no idea :p
it was great, i couldn't believe you felt the same way! i never got back to u cause of my internet not working well (virgin media).
i'm glad i didn't scare you off like i initially feared. :D
come to think of it. with like a chimp in it or something. Hahaha. Anyway, I'm not like Alex Mac either.
Where is a nasty chemical spill when you need one?
Eustacia Vye in The Return of the Native
so no :(
*they can really...
I have been called a monkey
a novel about silly monkeys
I love that book when the monkey eats somat he shouldnt have and then escapes to Jeffs house
who says she often feels like Raskolnikov
but sadly not his intellect.
WE GET IT
I'll be so cool. Liz taylor will be all like "give me babies" and i'll be all like "nah i like men!"
and my friend to mary jane.
something about my friend being a tall, beautiful redhead and me being a short geek (who likes web-slinging), or something.
i still took it as a compliment
don't confuse me?
to Christopher Robin
For my own ego's sake I'm going to assume that it's the best parts of both characters combined rather than the crap parts.
i got to play him when we did it in school though, so i guess that's enough...
but i still want to have a sword fight and die at the end.
"I dare damnation. To this point I stand,
That both the world, I give to negligence,
Let come what comes; only I'll be reveng'd
Most throughly for my father"
it's Othello ftw.
I kissed thee ere I killed thee, no way but this,
Killing myself, to die upon a kiss.
"you killed my da' and forced my sister into a water-y grave? i'm gonnae pure malcy you!" and stuff
His character was set up to make hamlet's more interesting! Laertes would be nothing without hamlet!
i don't feel like the star. i just want to get fighted and die
'Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But, if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.'
Who wants to touch me?
we suck? though tristan has compared me to one, but i think he's a bit off.
but at least you didn't call me Gradgrind. Though apparently I am a cold as steel rational utilitarian.
i don't know.
Martha in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'; surely not a good thing...?
Well, my RS teacher called me Iago at a meeting when trying to get me suspended, but that was just weird....
Also, does Nick Carraway actually do or say anything that suggests any kind of personality? At all?
Not really justified, but it beats Holden, I guess.
most people who meet me say they remind me of the gret enigmatic Conradian protagonist.
