The abbey is creepy.
The Magpie Cafe is overrated but still ridiculously nice.
There was a pirate ship.
get invaded by goths on a semi regular basis? and I don't mean visigoths or any such other historical figures.
twice a year.
there was mostly scary, fat chavs there today though
But I made like Jonathan Harker NEway
my gothy friends leaving for the Whitby weekender in a black vw golf.....with the bagde covered in black tape. Dark man....just dark. There's just something amusing about a golf stocked with moody roadtripping goths in every seat looking like lost Cradle of filth fans.
i like whitby
I live about 45mins away.... Oh probibly for tourists to look at and Captain Cook to use if he rises from the grave.
couldn't go on the open waves though because it were too windy!
When I think Whitby I think Cheshire :S
where Captain Cook and Dracula are from
it's a really famous town
next to me.
but the guy who wrote the book was inspired by Whitby and set quit a bit of it there.... Dracular comes over in a ship to Whiby or somat... I think
he was from here
went to school here
Which is where my grandparents live, and I lost my virginity.
but there is some kinda conection and there is a museum....
I think there is a museum in Great Ayton too.
well done with old verginity there.
and now you're in york? I go there quite often! Crazy times.
I live and work in York. Well near York, it requires using the Coastliner bus to get to work, i.e. the worlds most unreliable bus service.
Amongst the top 10 synods?
on Bede's depiction of the Synod of Whitby
Thinking about it makes me feel funny
But then it brings back a ton of childhood memories. It's like Filey minus the old people, and it's less kitsch than Scarborough.
I got one every time I went as a child, I probably had around 50 or so. They still do them, right?
WOW OMG KRAZY
the last time i 'went' there, it was on the way back from visiting scarborough. The same bus which i had taken from my town to scarborough, decided it only went as far as whitby on the way back.
Whitby seemed like a wonderful place to be stranded after experiencing scarborough.
there is rather a lot wrong with Scarborough.
