Do you put the clotted cream or the jam on first?
as you spread it on, then add the cream. trying to spread jam onto cream would just make a mess
it's difficult to get jam on cream if you do it the other way around.
The same applies for pb+j: heaviest one first
If you put peanut butter/cream on last then you have to spread it more heavily, which just makes it get all mixed up with the jam and you lose the different textures.
Jam on first means you get three distinct layers of scone, jam and cream. If you put the cream on first the jam get mixed up in the cream, although there's not really going to be any difference to the taste.
when i started writing it. Damn speedy boards.
i think i watched a program on this once.
jam then cream is the accepted consensus though and you'd always get it like that in a tea shop.
So you can do it in whichever order and proportions you want.
if you're at a horrendous tourist trap and have just spent about 7 quid then not!
then cream. Obvs.
I think we both know who's the queen of all things tea and cakey
2) Clotted cream
I am 7 stone at present.
i just have an ongoing disagreement with my bandmate about it!
my afternoon tea had jam first then clotted cream. it also had lemon drizzle and coffee cakes, and salmon sandwiches and egg mayonnaise sandwiches with the crusts cut off. it was partaken in the tea garden here: http://www.gardens-guide.com/gardenpix/0503_NunningtonHall.jpg
