Really dumb question - electrics

Rose-Kitten [Edit] [Delete] 22:04, 6 May '08

Hey - I've got this really lovely lamp which has suddenly stopped working (it's about 3 years old - not an antique). I've checked the light globes, I've checked the plug socket.. and now suddenly it appears that the dimmer switch on the cord isn't working (where once there was a small, comforting orange light).

My question is - is it possible that there is some kind of fuse (ie perhaps in the plug socket) that needs changing? If so, how would one open it?

Sorry - I didn't do any of that sort of stuff at school.. despite some of my English friends laughing at me for not having done so..

THANKS.
