I am extremely reluctant to purchase an item of clothing that features a zip if said zip isn't made by YKK.

That may sound a bit odd, but then this is a thread about idiosyncrasies.

My reasoning is that YKK zips are basically the industry standard. You can have a high degree of confidence that they aren't going to jam/break, etc etc. So, if the manufacturer has skimped on cost and gone for a less expensive/generic zip I tend to worry about how the garment will stand up to wear and tear.
