It's bloody great eh?! Danny Boyle rules
28 weeks later = complete rubbish though.
I thought the sequel was quite good actually. Especially the bit where yankee army are just shooting anybody
and really liked it. Maybe it's disappointing if you've already seen the first one though...
a complete absence of hope pervades the entire film.
*americanized should i say. the first film was raw, low budget, really subtle but terrifying. the second was a HD, stupidly drawn out (why did the father follow the kids throughout the whole film, HE'S A ZOMBIE, HE CAN'T THINK!). arghhh, the film was just STUPID and i cringed just out of pity for how utterly stupid the characters were made. that film makes me angry.
I seriously wanted to walk out the cinema.
Not a massive fan of zombie type stuff as a rule, but really thought this one was great.
*mandatory they aren't really proper zombies post*
the 1st part of the movie IS better than the 2nd. It goes downhill once they get to the army base.......still doesn't spoil it for me though
But like someone else has said, I prefer the first half to the second.
that the American production company who put the money up for it had a lot more influence on the second half, hence it slipping to being almost really fucking terrible.
Every second of this film is perfect until the VERY moment the army men pop out with their guns.
The fact they have a pet one. And its just like, WHY would this bunch of soldiers be so evil? What would they have to gain from being such dicks to the survivors? It was cartoony. The way Ecclestone is like 'My men need pleasure.' like Shredder or something.
And the way they dress the girls up in 19th century outfits. And the way he doesn't say to Celina he isn't infected. Just waits for her to see if she'd go through with her 'in a heartbeat' shit.
God this is all so bad.
Yet this is and will probably be for a long time one of my ultimate favourite films. It is THE only film that scares me and shits me up and THE only zombie film that got it SPOT ON. Although the Dawn of the Dead 2004 one was pretty close to equalling it - only not as good because it was American, and full of black guys with shotguns, pumping them and saying things like "let's rock".
