Really good signing.
I'm sure Gerrard will be in tears at the prospect of getting owned next year.
That'll be all.
and now Modric, Keegan must hate Spurs.
Bloody typical. Oh well, it was a lot of money to spend..
You're the next Dom Gourlay
that was me
we offered him £12k a week.... And please don't confuse our current board with the previous one ;)
We're beginning to resemble a professional football club.
Also, I think the transfer fee could rise to £20m based on appearance/goals, so it is a hell of a transfer fee to pay, even for someone as good as Modric. If Newcastle can get a few players in capable of challenging the top 6, then next season we can go for the likes of Modric, maybe able to offer European football, which don't forget Spurs CAN offer at the moment.
I keep forgetting there is a season still to finish!
Martins is quality and we need to keep him to have a chance of challenging for Europe next season. I can completely see why they've offered him that much.
1) I seriously doubt that we will offer Martins that much. The press have plucked that figure from nowhere.
2) Keegan is worth the money, look at the excitement he generates. His return alone has probably guaranteed a full house at every home game next season.
3) If you're referring to Owen, he is over his injury problems. He suffered a broken foot, and damaged cruciate ligament. They aren't exactly recurring injuries, just horrible luck. He is in red-hot form at the moment, and with a full pre-season behind him this summer he will score at least 20 goals next season.
a lovely signing.
i think after euro 2008 his value will fly through the roof, just like eduardo's would have done :(
signing good players before euro comps is invaluable. see also: rosicky before he hit some wonder goals two summers ago.
After a few seasons at your club you realise why he was that cheap.
think he'll come good.
hes shown in europe when he's in the middle he can be a fantastic playmaker, where he plays for czech.
yet due to wenger never buying left footers hes the best on that side, which still gives us more options.
plus, on a basic level, hes apprantly good mates with cesc, so if he keeps cesc happy he keeps me happy, espec if flamini leaves as apprantly that won't make cesc very happy. no no.
but for the amount he's injured he's worth no more than we paid for him, wouldn't be that disappointed if he went. I'd choose Hleb over him every time.
he does seem more of a piece of paper than a paper weight.
as for hleb....well, he's just inconsistent that i can never really trust him to show up to the away games. plus hes got that nasty "we play passing football so you can't touch us" attitude, which can get irritating and essentially why we have nothing to play for right now.
really top player, wanted chelsea to sign him so much.
he's the next number 25 :(
