i only just saw this, but it's gotta be the best goal ever
ridiculus, you wouldn't see that at a Shrewsbury v Aldershot match.
Deliberate? True or False?
don't care! it's all about the aesthetics, and that goal is a thing of great beauty
I doubt he meant it as I am sure he was just crossing it back in.
I always found with carlos that he was more a hit and hope player than someone who had real control when hitting the ball at goal.
I am very much aware that he has scored a few crackers in his career but I have never rated him that highly.
on the other hand.
Did Van Basten end his career at Port Vale without my knowledge?
what a douche
One of the worlds most over-rated players in his day. Hit and hope striker of a dead ball, terrible defender
although you cant argue with the fact that when it worked the results were spectacular
Perhaps an (slight) exaggeration, but he was hardly prolific, given the number or free kicks he took
True they were normally spectacular, but as a shots - goal ratio, he was worse than Fat Frank Lampard (and that is saying something)
he was a defender remember, that means Fat Frank has at least a 40 yard head start on him.
Like his modest celebration though, seemed a little bit embarassed.
ROberto Carlos was a very lucky free-kicker, he built a reputation as being a free-kick specialist based soley on one free kick at Le Tournoi. For every 20 freekicks he took 19 hit the wall and 3/4's of the rest missed the target.
i'm not sure he miss hit it as such, he just pelted it in hope of someone getting a head on it...
it looks quite old, Real purple jersey, pre- Zidane, so 2000, maybe 2001?
They stopped using those jerseys in the 1998-1999 season
1998 on the video...
It's hard hit for a cross and it's nearer the keeper, but clearly there's something of the hit and hope about it.
I prefer this goal, and not only - alright, only - because I was sitting directly in line with its initial trajectory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roHkLcqHv3g
I've seen a lot of left backs do that shot, Nigel Winterburn scored a cracker like that against the Chavs a few years back. They must teach it at left-back college.
I like how the commentator says "he definitely meant that" just as we see Carlos put his hand to his mouth in shock and bewilderment.
just lucky that he hit it right i suppose
here you go:
If only for the first touch
Adeboyor had done that on Sunday.
My favourite goal, purely cos I was at the game.
Still a pretty strong effort.
What a great first touch.
...it would be this
The dutch commentator beats Barry Davies for the BBC going mental when Bergkamp scored this one
he'd need to sound-proof the bedroom walls haha.
Also thats the way commentary should be done when you see an amazing goal.
not dissimilar to...
love the team mates' reactions
is inferior to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP9DJYq54YI
Like the music as well
There is only one Zlatan.
This guy is the worlds BEST example
The odd amazing goal aside, what does he actually do? And he NEVER reproduces form in the big games
not exactly shit is it?
Whenever I have seen him play (which is invariably big european or international games) he has been awful.
I will admit I have not seen him play in the italian league, so perhaps my judgement on him is a little flawed
I see and read lots about how skillful and talented he is, but never see him reproduce this in the matches I have seen him play in
Alot of TV commentators in this country seem to think the same
You can't argue that he's not inconsistent though.
apparently he is the best paid player in the world at around 150k a week.
But he does score some great goals. His lack of consistency kind of sums up Italian football, can be great but really are a bit shit.
The odd great goal does not make a great player. Consistently great does
Surely Beckham is on more than that in LA?
Beckhams deal has a lot to do with sponsors but from money just from the club i heard it was Zlatan that rules.
hope to see a repeat of this tonight from big king Carlos.
He's a fantastic player. I'm sure his number of assists is very high as well. Certainly more then a certain C Ronaldo anyway...
My favourite goal is this:
watching that match live too. Absoloutely incredible.
