that are quite close to each other, and not too far from a tube station advise needed please?

BUT IT SUCKS NOW
any particular street/pub?
my prior knowledge of london is more geared towards daytime activities and not night time drinks.
he red lion is there, as is ye olde coffee house, and two or three other 'olde'ish pubs that might do you.
Nearest tube: Temple
Pubs: The Cheshire Cheese, The Edgar Wallace, The Old Bank Of England, Coach And Horses, The Old Bell, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese and others
if you start at the blackfriars tube end you can call in the blackfriar, which isn't quite as medieval as it'd like to be, but still nice and old. plus from fleet street it's not much of a yomp up to holborn, where you've got the cittie of yorke, ship tavern, ye olde mitre and the princess louise, which has arguably the most interesting interior in the whole of das kapital. none of these beats the jerusalem tavern up by farringdon station, though.
jerusalem tavern = best pub in london
Opposite Tottenham Court Road station
Loads in Streatham
