Horrific Faux Pas
On Saturday night, I was in the good ship in Kilburn, and I needed some cash. So, I went to the cash point in the venue. Whilst I was getting some money out, I notice two men who were hanging around the cashpoint in quite a suspicious manner. One of them was stood next to it and the other was staring straight at me. Feeling that something was wrong, I waited for the next person in the line to put their card in and watched the two men. Again, one stared and the other was hovering around next to the cash point. A third person went up, same thing. So feeling that something dodgy was going to go down, I warned a barmaid about it. She said she would switch the cashpoint off. She never did. 10 minutes later I went back up to that area, and they were still there, one perched staring at the cashpoint, the other still standing next to it. So I went and told the bouncers. They took the two men out of the venue fairly quickly.
5 minutes later, one of the bouncers came up to me and said, ‘are they the two men you told me about?’ pointing to the aforementioned blokes. When I told them they were, he asked me to go over and speak to them. Although I thought this was a strange request, I did just that…….
Turned out I had accused a mentally disabled man and his carer of being thieves. I have never felt so guilty in my life.
